I don't want to win due to time constraints, but this is my choice:

With Norman, Doctor & the Medics and Gareth Gates and the Kumars for Comic Relief, this was Number One by three different artists who have been considered one hit wonders (For me Doctor & the Medics don't count as they broke the top 40 again with their cover of Waterloo).

There are some great stories behind some of the One Hit Wonders and Todd in the Shadows on YouTube makes entertaining and interesting videos about them. Here's his one about one of my favourite true One Hit Wonders (One number one and nothing else) The Floaters' 'Float On'.

I just knew we would end up debating what constitutes a one hit wonder. Certainly they need one hit (which means top five in the UK or number one somewhere else). But what about other 'hits'? Peter Sarsted had a second top 20 hit. As did Mungo Jerry. What about big Album bands who maybe only ever released on single? I went for a band that didn't generally release singles but did achieve one number one, and this is a record that everyone of a certain generation knows, even if they don't know who recorded it. Obscure, yet familiar.
Maybe I'm not quite of that certain generation because I've never heard of the one you posted and it doesn't even sound familiar. Maybe because it's Rock, a genre I do my best to avoid like the plague.

Don't worry. Nobody has ever heard of any music posted by HWT. And I don't mean that nastily.:ROFLMAO:

Okay, in the absence of a tight definition, I'm going to go for a man who now defines himself as a 'Two Hit Wonder' after being given a second hit by his fans as a birthday present 25 years on from his actual hit. Given that his second hit was solo and that this was as half of a duo with Wild Willy Barret, I'm still counting it as a OHW.

The A Side is an absolute classic, but, for info, I'm also posting the reason that he ended up not having a follow up hit: the eejit put his best song on the B side of his hit. I love this so much, I own three identical copies of the single, just in case.

Here
Got slapped down with my first contribution (quite rightly I may add) but now that the definition of "One hit" seems to be expanding it is with great confidence that I submit the following..........

.......although I'm sure either that someone must've submitted it already or that someone will kindly tell me that the band had an obscure top 100 entry in September 1970!!!

And the winner is.
One of my all time favourites.

Your question @Surf's Up. Given your user name would it be too much to hope for 'Give me a song written by Brian Douglas Wilson?'
