My daughter's suggestion for today was Slipknot's 'Get This'. I won't post it as it seems like cheating the 'one suggestion' rule and, if she was that bothered, she could join the board.

Was very tempted to go with either Magazine's Shot by both sides or Alice Cooper's No more Mr Nice Guy, but instead opted for this, which never fails to get the juices going for me ...

(This is the album cut, though the live version which comes up first on youtube is even better ...)

I've listened to them all and, with several top contenders including a handful I hadn't heard before, this is today's winner with an intro that's pretty much repeated through the whole song. Well played sir and look forward to your choice of category.

Cheers

Give me a song that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and sends you off somewhere?

This does it for me

Coincidentally, I quite like the lights off, headphones on, and the original radio play of Under Milk Wood with Richard Burton to get just the experience you describe. 'To begin at the beginning it is spring moonless night in the small town starless and bible black...' I'm away.

Of course, that's not a song. And, as the musical choices that come to my mind are also not in a strict sense 'songs', I'd ask you for a ruling: Compositions? Preludes? Symphonies? Tone pieces? Jazz pieces? Or are we sticking to songs? If the word 'song' in your request allows for any piece of music, I'd take:

If it needs to actually be a song with actual words set to music, I'll think again.

I get what you’re saying, so any piece of music is fine.
