This could be a damn good coalition government. Cameron and Clegg could make a great partnership, Hague as Foreign secretary is also very good.

Osborne as Chancellor , well I would have given it to Cable or Clarke but lets see how it pans out first and then slag them off if it goes tits up.

I am quite excited for a brighter future.

What is it about Osborne? I haven't heard 1 person who believes he comes across as a credible chancellor. Cable should be the man for that job no question

I didn't want Cameron and the Tories to get in, in fact I voted tactically against them. However, I'm prepared to give them a shot, given that some of their policies I despised the most seem to have fallen by the wayside in the coalition-forming process.

I'll observe with baited breath...

Good to see some common sense. We've got the outcome that is the best given the vote. Labour have disgraced themselves in the negotiations. Balls in particular. The Tories have at least shown a willingness along with the lib dems to take the situation seriously. I honestly think the thing will collapse when Europe becomes an issue and the referendum on voting reform i think will be delayed in the interests of unity for the time being. But let's give it a chance.

Give it a chance, if it works then it will show that full PR can work. Everyone has had to compromise, that's good too.

We live in a democracy, and this is it in action. It's a million miles from what I would have liked, but my lot came second, and that's it for now.

I'm at a loss as to how some of this will work, given the ,erm, antipathy between LibDem and Tories in the election, and it does look a bit like both sides grudgingly accepting the other.Hopefully it will see the end of some of the more crackpot ideas of both.It was also interesting to hear Mr Gove accept that the recovery has indeed begun.Didn't hear the Tories saying too much about THAT a couple of weeks ago.

At the next election, will there be an "accommodation" between the alliance parties,or will there be a return to the normal slaggings off?

Hope still to be gasping along when the next vote pitches up,but I do know where the LibDems have lost at least three votes !

The people of Pavilion Ward must be delighted. When you mix Blue and Yellow, you get Green. :tumble:
Also remember that a camel is a horse designed by a committee.

When you vote Green, you get Green. When you vote Yellow you get Blue.

People will, I hope, note that at the next election.

I’m no conservative but I do hope it works for all sakes, but Cameron will have to shift out a lot of the right wing of he’s own party pretty quickly to have any chance.

The LibDems are screwed at the next election. Massively screwed. Clegg will go down in history as the man who destroyed the party.

People have been going on and on about a 'mandate to rule', etc. What Clegg absolutely did not have, was a mandate to missappropriate the entire LibDem vote and hand it over to a party diametrically opposed to almost everything his party stood for.

It is truly shocking what he has done, in return for personal advancement.

Depressing times.

Seeing Osborne shuffled out of the picture was going to be the one silver lining in this sorry affair. Now we don't even get that. Glad to see Hague pushed to the fore. Apart from that the whole thing seems pretty much a worst case outcome.

£6Billion of public sector cuts to be announced in an 'austerity budget' in June. 10 times that to follow.

There will be massive industrial action and civil unrest, by next summer. Well done Clegg.

A Conservative/Lib Dem coalition and Vince Cable isn't Chancellor. Nice one CLEGGO!

Has the full cabinett been announced yet? If he isn't chancellor, I hope Cable takes a Lord Mandleson-esque business tzar type role.

Harsh Hans.

What were his alternatives ? The electorate put him in the position where he has to make a deal with someone. A deal with Labour would just have been wrong.

Let's see how it pans out.

Sorry, but that is a nonsense.

He didn't have to do a deal with either. If he'd said no to both, then the Tories would have been able to form a minority government, as was their right. The LibDems would have had the balance of votes on almost everything going through parliament, but would have been able to freely chose what to support or oppose, in line with the wishes of those who voted for them.

I don't think I'm being harsh enough. I'm finding it hard to articulate just how bad a decision he has made.
