It's about time Nibali stepped up to the plate (excluding the Veulta) I feel like I've been tipping him to win big, for years.

Cav aside it looks like UK cycling interest has gone stateside, this is Sky's team for Amgen Tour of California 2011:-
31 Kurt-Asle Arvesen (Nor)
32 Alex Dowsett (GBr)
33 Christopher Froome (GBr)
34 Mathew Hayman (Aus)
35 Gregory Henderson (NZl)
36 Jeremy Hunt (GBr)
37 Ian Stannard (GBr)
38 Ben Swift (GBr)
I don't think even they have had 5 brits together.

Todays stage is all set up nicely for cav. There is absolutley no climbs whatsoever. Just hope that he can beat Petacchi this time.

Do I get half a point for flagging up a winning bike manufacturer.

No, no you don't. We might actually get something right if we do that though.

Todays stage is proper cycling. Ride up Mount Etna, then for good measure ride up it again from the steeper southern side. GC contenders only today, I'm going for Nibali, mainly because I cannot bring me self to back Alberto 'I ate a dodgy piece of steak, honest guv' Contador.

The side by side cut away, looked very similar to me and King of the Mountains Colin, (Col de Col), out this morning.
Sadly I'm on the left

Mark Cavendish (HTC-Highroad) finally took his first sprint victory at the Giro d'Italia, powering his way past rival Alessandro Petacchi of Lampre-ISD on a mild incline to win the tenth stage in Teramo. Movistar's Francisco Ventoso took second, leaving third place for Petacchi. Alberto Contador of Saxo Bank-SunGard easily held on to this overall lead.

The closing sprint came down to the two top names, as expected. Cavendish was on Petacchi's rear wheel, and the Italian was left on his own early when Danilo Hondo peeled off. The approach to the finish line had a four percent gradient - minor but noticeable. It wasn't enough to stop Cavendish, who powered his way past the Italian with 150 meters to go. He won by a clear margin, with Ventoso coming in at the last second to claim second place honours to add to his stage six win.

"The team was incredible today, we did all the work and the finish was perfect," Cavendish said as he still gasped for breath seconds after winning the stage.

"I decided it was better to be behind Petacchi because I know I can pass him when I wanted to. I followed him and then opened my sprint with 150 metres to go."

"I made a mistake today and perhaps both I and Danilo [Hondo] didn't feel great after the rest day," Petacchi admitted. "I made a mistake in the sprint, went too early and virtually gave Cav a perfect lead-out."

You can't not love Cav.

Just seen tomorrows profile.
Stick a tail wind on it, and I could ride in the peloton.

Got to go with Chicchi, as Cav (the winner) is odds on.

Oh and I caught a glimpse of our very own Ryder Hesjedal, at the Tour of Cal, the other day.

He is definitely on the same Tour build up plan as Wiggins 2009.
He's lost a lot of weight, and has moved from my top 5 finishers, to a Paris podium place.

Not sure about that SB, third to Contador and Schleck? Seems a tall order and he hasn't shown much this year. I would love to see it though.

On to today and we have the flattest stage of the Giro so far. HTC to pull the peleton along after a sacrificial breakaway followed by a second Cav win.

On great Cav quotes, after he won two days ago he came out with this after being accused of hanging on to the team car. "I challenge Ventoso to spend one day in the back group with me, he will see then that if I stop to piss, if I stop to change my wheel, if I crash - I have commissaire with me every time, I have a television camera with me every time, I have a f***ing ice cream truck with me the whole time."

Must not get to into this here, but upon reflection:-
Pros
I don't think Contador will ride, and I've always felt there's a fragility to either Schleck.
Cons
Farrar and Hoshovd, in the same squad would make them GC lite.
