An American rock music fan has obliterated the Guinness World Record for the most music concerts attended in one year.

Joshua Beck from Monroe Township, New Jersey has officially entered the record books after he attended, what Guinness World Records calls, a ‘mind-blowing’ 86 gigs in 2022.

86 gigs in a year doesn't seem that many to me; in my gig-going (and hearing destroying) years of 1980-1987ish, I went to dozens of gigs a year in Brighton and London.

I guess the difference is that he bothered to find out that there was a world record for such a thing. And then was bothered enough to do the hard yards –admin-wise, not gig-going – to ensure he got the record.

I reckon if there was one for 'Most jaffa cakes consumed in a single calendar year', I'd be in with a very good shout

86 in a year ?

BB KIng was still playing over 200 gigs per year well into his 70s

I'm more impressed with the number of baked beans eaten with a cocktail stick in 5 minutes world record than 86 gigs in 365 days.

This is nonsense. I have a friend who regularly averages over 200 a year. I'm sure I've done more than 86.

Get onto Guinness, then and get yourself in the big book (unless it's all online these days!).
