Poor lad, the pressure he's going to be under is immense.

If he doesn't score a hat-trick every game until the end of the season he'll get nothing but abuse on here and from the stands.

Mind you, I'm more tempted to go to our remaining home games now.

Albion have completed the loan signing of Gifton Noel-Williams from Championship rivals Burnley.

The 25-year-old Islington born forward has signed for the club until the end of the season, after Albion paid a five-figure loan fee, in order to secure the services of the player.

Mark McGhee, wearing an outsize check suit with squirting lapel flower, said, "I am pleased to have finally secured the services of Gifton Noel-Williams. A robust centre forward, Gifton should bring something of what we've been looking for to the forward line and be great foil for one of our young strikers.

"He is the type of player we have been looking for, for some time. Regardless of the fact that it has taken us to now, we're glad to have him here. He will be a replacement for Mark McCammon in the shower.

"We're not only giving Gifton the opportunity to help us out of a hole, but also the opportunity for him to be here in the longer term, so there's something in it for both of us."

The striker began his career at Watford before subsequent moves to Stoke City and Burnley. He has made 228 senior starts, 88 substitute appearances and scored 66 senior goals.

Noel-Williams will wear squad number seven, and goes straight into the squad for Saturday's match with Luton Town.

Burnley striker Gifton Noel-Williams has been allowed to join Championship rivals Brighton and Hove Albion on loan.
The 26-year-old has joined Mark McGhee's team until the end of the season, as they look to fight off the threat of relegation.
Noel-Williams, who signed from Stoke City last summer, has netted two goals for the Clarets this season in 17 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the Championship.
Speaking about the move, Clarets boss Steve Cotterill said: "It's been a busy couple of weeks really with the transfer deadline.
"We've let Gifton go to Brighton and hopefully he'll go down there and do well."

Thanks Steve :)

He's not prolific but he will score his share, a 10-15 a season man AT THIS LEVEL.

What I think is most important about him is he is EXACTLY the kind of player we have been looking for to take the battering from defenders and create space for CKR.

Great signing and one in the eye to those who said the board had given up on this season. Clearly Burnley have blinked and have agreed to a reasonable package and one that doesn't hang a lead weight of his big wages around our neck for the next 18 months.

I'll be honest and say I'm a bit surprised but pleased as well. Will he be enough ? It's a tall order to put it mildly however, maybe a few of Dick Knight's and Mark McGhee's detractors might back off a bit.

Yes, he may not score shed-loads of goals himself, but he's just what we need to give our youngsters time and space to score themselves.

Hopefully will turn out to be a good signing.

I don't expect him to single-handedly keep us up and certainly won't blame him if he can't do it. But if he does.....
