Rosa Parks was being antagonistic to make her point too. Being quiet & compliant doesn't work with racism
She was protesting against segregation in every day life. If you want to protest against segregation for safety and keeping the peace, in large crowds, buy a ticket in the away end next time you are at the Amex.

My question watching this and the extended version of the london march, is why ANYONE (whatever their cause) is allowed to march or demonstrate shouting ‘scum’ at people whilst having their faces covered?
It's the decision of the Police that to go and make an arrest is likely to cause worse disorder. Handling a crowd, particularly a crowd that has a sense of unity, or comararderie with each other, is different to dealing with small groups or individuals.

I live in North London in and around massive Jewish communities. Every weekend when I get on the tube in the morning I take an awkward glance around when I see Jewish families and Palestine protesters in the same carriage, no one is getting threatened though. And it's safe to walk the streets with a kippah on.

On the other hand I really cannot see what the policeman has done wrong (apart from threatening arrest) obviously it's a pretty stupid thing to do walking next to a protest as an openly Jewish person. It only takes one idiot to do something stupid or rile other people up. As others on this thread have said , there would be no outrage if the police did this against footy fans! It's just common sense policing.

As for the protests. About half the protesters seem to be tarquins, looney lefties or students who have no clue what is going on in Israel. Some of the stuff on social media where these protesters have been questioned about what is going on and clearly have no idea is hilarious. I'm not for banning peaceful protests (like the French have) but can't they move these marches away from central London? They are causing a nuisance , literally every weekend, and, no disrespect but they are achieving very little apart from inconveniencing normal Londoners going to work and going about their business at weekends.

Unfortunately It appears you managed to use up your whole week's worth of common sense halfway through the following post on a monday morning @dwayne :lolol:

So you think that the experiences are similar then ? You think Jews are treated as slaves and third class citizens in England and don't have any rights etc etc?!?!

Not forgetting that some of the most powerful and rich people in this country and the states are Jewish.

Which again makes the point that a visibly Jewish person is unsafe during a 'peaceful' protest. A point also made by the the nauseating chants the crowd directed at him - for being visibly Jewish
He is safe, because the Police are there preventing him and others from doing things that may antagonise the situation.

I genuinely would love to know why that is a face palm....I'm talking in this day and age and this day and age Vs the experience of blacks in the US for Rosa parks in the 50s.

I've edited my post to highlight the area I think may be an issue

Tories as usual trying to whip of division and try and exploit the situation. Amazing the way they've whipped this into a media frenzy...
And I was rebuked (I think - it's hard to tell these days) for my post #2.

So, to sum up, is this the state of play?

1. Jewish conservative activist with links to pro illegal settlement supporters walks perfectly legally in a London street
2. His presence and his cameraman and body guard are deemed by a policeman to be potentially provocative, given the co-presence of a pro-Palestine protest.
3. Policeman suggests Jewish activist might perhaps best not wander among the Palestinian protesters.
4. Jewish activist decides his legal right to go where he choses takes precedence.
5. Policeman explains, rather clumsily perhaps, what the issue is.

Now I know a bit more about Mr Falter, I would like to know what might have happened had he pursued his trajectory towards the pro-Palestinian protesters. The options are these:

1. The Pro Palestinian protesters shout at him. Falter stands his ground with his bodyguard while his camera man films it all.
2. The Pro Palestinian protesters ignore Falter, who eventually wanders off with his two pals.

My money would have been on 1. Perhaps this is what actually happened. At that point it would have been sensible for the policeman to tell Falter to be on his way. If he refused, my feeling is that it would have been in the policemen's gift to arrest Falter for breach of the peace. Let's be clear, this is for fronting up pro Palestinian protesters while wearing a yamaka, perhaps just standing still and staring at them, with a bodyguard by his side, and a cameraman filming the proceedings.

And let's be clear. There was a perfectly legit pro Israel protest going on yards away. All perfectly peaceful. Anyone from one side who decides to leave the protest and stand up close to the other protesters with a cameraman and bodyguard is clearly being a provocative arse.

So what I am saying, with various caveats, once certain conditions have been met, taking a lovely stroll in London can turn into a breach of the peace, if the person involved decided to look like he is inviting peace to be breached, and won't move along when asked to do so by a policeman.

I would be pleased to be corrected on the general narrative (nit picking that does not affect the narrative has already been discussed, I suspect, so if that could be parked, that would be nice). That's where I am right now on this.

(I must say that my confidence in my analysis is bolstered hugely by the fact that is the opposite of what Suella Braverman thinks).
