Had a look at flights from Manchester and reasonable price, it's accomodation and what to do along with how long to stay that i would like some genuine advice. Not thinking about car hire or crossing into Spain.

Not for me Clive. Much nicer places across the border. Why wouldn't you pop up to Cadiz for example?
Not much to see or do - a day trip is enough. Been there loads of times (mostly with work). Walk up and see the apes and the caves/tunnels and nature reserve, have a nice lunch and…..er…….that’s it really. Not much in the way of good beaches either (except the man-made one which gets busy).

Went there a long time ago and wouldn't be rushing to go back again. Looked a bit grubby to me.
100% this. Cadiz is one of the nicest places I've been to in the past few years. A crime not to visit.
Gibraltar's nice, but you have some great places so close.
I spent 2 weeks there last year over 2 trips.
It’s one of those places with lots of hidden attractions but you have to dig a bit to find them. There are a number of caves and WW2 sites on and around the rock, walk down to Europa Point, the Main Street in the old town is very picturesque too, afternoon tea at the Rock hotel….. I saw a couple of Gibraltar games too, was there when they turned on the Christmas lights which was nice, and did a day trip to Ronda. There are some lovely period buildings, neolithic caves (Unecso) - would have gone to Ceuta too but the boats stopped running due to the weather.
I would agree it’s not your typical holiday destination, if you want hot, sunny beaches it’s not the place for you.

Quite surreal looking around the cemetary just past the shops. A lot of sailor folk buried there from the battle of Trafalgar.....some of the ages and trades are an eye opener

A two night stay would be ample in my opinion, the Rock Hotel was good (when I went 25 years ago).
I went to Gibraltar twice in the late 80s. It was Swindon in the sun.
I'm sure it's probably a bit better nowadays, but frankly it couldn't have been much worse.

Like others above. Been about 3 dozen times because of work and in all honesty... saw everything worth seeing on the first trip, the other 35 had just one redeeming advantage - cheap booze/cigarettes (may have, once or twice, slightly exceeded my allowance with never a hint of a search at Gatwick).

I’ve been a couple of times recently and it’s a lot better than it used to be. There is a big Marina called ocean village and the sundowner hotel there looks quite good and gets decent reviews. There are also a load of apartments in ocean village that share a decent pool complex (good for an Airbnb). The marina has your usual uk chain restaurants like pizza express, wagamamas etc, a club, bars, and a casino. If you head away from the marina and tourist areas to some of the more hidden bits you can actually find some decent local restaurants and bars and even a half decent beach! (where the Gibraltarians go), we were actually pleasantly surprised. The rock tour is probably the only cultural thing of note to do but you can also go out on a dolphin watching tour and see some of huge mega yachts mored up in the harbour. I’ve only been in the summer not in winter so I don’t know what it would be like this time of year.

I stayed in the Rock on both my recent visits. A bit faded glory but cool to see the lights of Tangiers from your balcony. It certainly tests your lungs on the walk back but I kind of liked it. Nice mini zoo/ wildlife park opposite.
I found plenty to do for a week but maybe I’m easily pleased…. that said I’ve travelled extensively and would say there’s enough there to do and see for a few days if you keep an open mind. I do like all the military and colonial history though so that helped!
That did make me laugh seeing that you give a Manchester address …… (meant in jest, I spent a really nice few days in Manchester for the Ashes and going back for a few days later this year!).
