I was thrilled to pieces with Ghana's win over the Czechs in Cologne last weekend and, as I keep mentioning, I had the good fortune ("fortune" meaning luck as well as money in this case) to be there to witness it in person.

Along with every neutral (i.e. predominantly German) fan at the game, their team's performance and their brilliant supporters have won a load of people over: that game's atmosphere was the best I've ever experienced: better than when we went up at Cardiff, better than Highbury in '83. And that was even before the serious celebrations/drinking got underway in the town centre afterwards. Ghana's team has, as often happens during world cups, been adopted by its hosts, something which Essien and co admit gave them a massive lift on Saturday.

There's a great article here about it (sadly only in German):

So for today: I'm GHANAIAN! Come on boys!

They'll do it for TONY!

We had an awesome holiday there a few years ago and I have them in the sweepstake on here so I've made myself an honorary Ghanaian.

Teams like Ghana, and performances like the one against the Czechs, are what makes world cups so special. Jealous that I wasn't there, it must have been craking MoH.
I'd love to see Ghana go through at the expense of Italy.
