[Sussex] Getting out into the countryside

We'll have to differ on this one.
I like the nature and outdoors that the NT preserves and treasures, but it's fawning celebration of the aristocracy, their daft homes and sh!t art makes me want to puke.

Edit: much happier with national parks, yet another gift provided by the best government this country has ever seen.
It's actually harder to build something on NT land than in a National Park , due to the way the NT was set up. Don't forget British National Parks are largely privately owned, it's only in the US that they are a "gift to the nation."

I agree with you about the tedious aristo-love in, but they also save huge areas of "wild places" as a key part of their charter. That's how I justify my membership.

I have spent the last few days on the Cornwall Coast Path and about 50pc (all the best bits) were on land protected and cared for by the Trust.

A bit off piste, but the seal in the River Adur used to be commonly seen a few years ago, including by myself and my bewildered cockapoo. Has anyone see it recently or heard about it? The photo below was taken in September 2021 about a mile North of Upper Beeding.
