just found out it's going to cost £895 per eye
I paid more than that, quite a bit more, but had mine done by the pre-eminent specialist in the UK (who has done over 30,000 of these type of operations)
And before anyone strikes me down, I figured that if I was gonna get my eye's lasered, I'd wanna get the most proficient person available, it's your eye-sight, after all, no cutting corners.
I got an interest free loan over two years.
If you can't afford the best treatment, DONT DO IT -

JOURNO'S can get it done for nowt if they can get a story published saying how GREAT it is. Easy life.
Got mine done at Optimax in Croydon, two days later I was watching footy in the pub without contacts.
LITERALLY marvellous scenes.

Waiting until I'm old enough for optilase to take assurances that my eyesights settled down (when I've had the same prescription for 5 years already...) to get it done.

Why not get one done at a time and have a one man attempt to bring the monocle back in fashion in between the two operations?

Done almost a year ago to the day. Slightly higher than 20/20 vision, cost me a few quid because I went for Lasik/Wavefront using a new machine that they had installed. I went for them because the machine was the one in use by the US Military, and they allow their pilots to have correction (granted, some of their targetting is ropey, but I blame that on computers and not human vision....) - the US airlines also recognised surgery done by this process.
Weird for a little while, back to work within a week. All settled down, suffer with a dry right eye occasionally, but nothing major. Eyesight is amazing now, I can see better than many other people, it's weird! I can read the bottom line on the chart with either eye - I was done by Optical Express. I did loads of research first, checked out the online information (backed out once after reading the US scare stories!), and then checked on the surgeon who was doing the job. It's so much better without glasses or lenses, haven't regretted it at all.
Main problem is stopping yourself from checking vision in each eye continually when it is first done, you can convince yourself it hasn't worked! Eyes take a little time to settle in properly (can be six months, but are good enough to drive within a week), and they settle at different rates - this is never really explained properly by the surgeons.

Funny how looking back at Punk it seems to involve standing like someone with Polio (Ian Dury RIP), wearing "comical" glasses, and trying to sound like you never went to college. Lots of badges involved as well....

Love to get one of my eyes done but i don't think i can.I spoke to one of these places over the phone and the first thing they asked me was how long i've been wearing glasses/lenses.I've never worn them(my fought)I would deffo get a loan tomorrow if they could sort me out

Had mine done 7 years ago. Best thing I ever did. Went with Optimax in London. Stayed in hotel so I could go back for check up in the morning. Not supposed to drive for a week or so after and have to put drops in your eye for 2 months.
I paid £1500 including the hotel. Was paying £200 a year for contacts and around £100 a yr on soloutions. Also, my bathroom doesn't look like a chemical factory anymore!

No age limit, although they will explain that you could still need reading glasses. It's the ability to go swimming without having to ask people what the time is because you can't see the effing great, 6 foot diameter clock at the deep end - also being able to go to bed without rolling over and crushing your glasses (at what, couple of hundred quid a pop?) and waking up and being able to see. There are loads of benefits, and considering you can get reading glasses for less than a fiver these days, the money you save by lasering is demonstrable.
