So the Olympics can f*** ITSELF. Im also expecting transport CHAOS in London so it can f*** ITSELF EVEN MORE.

The closer we get the more I am cheesed off with having this rammed down my throat... all this tosh about " Legacy " how green it's going to be and how its going to re-vitalize the east end of London. In reality, the main stadium will in all probablity, be a huge white elephant. And how can tens of thousands of competetors and tv crews with tons of equipment flying in from all over the world leave no carbon footprint ?
The " Legacy " will be not disimilar to when the BBC had to stage the British version of Jeux Sans Frontières and we had the cheapest set and crappies props in the whole of Europe !........

Ha ha - I didn't even bother applying - why would I suddenly want to watch Olympic Ludo when I normally have no interest whatsoever ?

It's also caused me no end of headaches in my job - data centre compulsory purchased to make space for the Olympics ( at great cost to my employer I might say !!! ) and extreme difficulties in continuing day to day operations in London during the Olympics. Complete waste of time and money.

I am looking forward to the Games - have tickets for handball (via a friend), beach volleyball and table tennis. The opening ceremony, on the other hand, is going to be shit. Why would I be even vaguely interested? What is the point of it? Get on with the bloody sport.

I feel sorry for people who applied and ended up getting tickets to see a pair or 12 year old Chinese girls twirling a ribbon on a stick or headfirst down in a swimming pool....

Allegedly there should be a long term legacy which will benefit us all (According to those involved) however we might be paying for it but most of us will be dead before these long term benefits are realised.

The chance to see the greatest sportsmen in the world performing in this country. the chance to show off our country to the world. At a time of great austerity, the opportunity to give everybody something to be happy about.

Never under estimate the feel good factor derived by seeing our boys and girls beating all those foreigners - albeit in sports that I know nothing about up until the day before. But it doesnt stop me shouting at the screen and giving them the benefit of my 20 minutes of knowledge derived from Hazel Irvine or Claire Balding.

I remember when the Sydney Olympics were on and it creates such a wonderful atmosphere with so many visitors from all around the world converging into the area.

Make the most of it and go see as many things as you can!

Just the Opening and Closing ceremonies (both of which completely superflous nonsense and could be done with a ribbon, a speech and pair of scissors) will cost us over £80million!!!!!!!!!

Can't speak for anybody but myself but in fact the Olympics as a spectacle has never held much interest for me in over fifty years. This time however it'll mean large bills and travel chaos as far as I'm concerned so you can hardly expect me to be too thrilled about it. I suspect that I'm not the only person with these sentiments.

Ah, now you see, that's where we differ. I bloody LOVE opening ceremonies, for the unfailing crap-ness of them all, for the endless floaty, wafty cliches that are chucked in by the pretentious artistic directors, and most importantly of all, for the transparently scripted efforts of the TV commentators to interpret the madness.

"And here we see Lei Ming Xao, a native of Beijing, who is wearing a silken head-dress of the famous Lao design, which embodies the growth of the human spirit and the sense of endeavour amidst all our souls". Er, WHAT?

I seem to recall that the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony featured a load of dancing rotary washing lines (I'm not joking) which is a pretty spectacular reflection on Australia's cultural contribution to the world. Tremendous effort, and I can't WAIT to see what the organisers decide best depicts the British Olympic spirit.
