Get in Barcelona!!

Chelsea were spot on in their reactions, perfectly human and normal. They've been robbed of a place in the champions league final by some crap refereeing.

I don't agree with this. Shouting the odds at the ref is not a spot on reaction. I just wish that referees made some effort to clamp down on it. Lampard showed a lot of class last night and went up in my estimation; he was disappointed yes, but didn't feel the need to hurl abuse at the ref, congratulated the Barca players, swapped shirts with Iniesta and then trundled off down the tunnel.

A very good point. I wondered whose shirt Iniesta had with him.

Well played Frank, THAT is how to behave.

Is it true that John Terry came out and defended Drogbas reaction? If so, that is NOT the sort of thing I want from the England captain. Either don't comment, or make it clear that it was totally unacceptable behaviour, maybe something like "he got caught up in the heat of the moment. I'm sure he'll know himself that he didn't handle it the way he should, and when he looks back on the footage, he'll be very disappointed with his conduct." If anyone knows what Terry did say, I'd be interesed. All I heard was Talksport refer to him as defending Drogbas reaction at the end of the game.

Well, that's exactly what he's done. With all the class, dignity and poise of a spoilt toddler denied an ice cream. (And Ballack's Martin Keown-meets-Bela Lugosi act wasn't exactly what I'd like from the Germany captain either):

Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba were both cautioned for berating Ovrebo on the pitch, but captain Terry defended the actions of his team-mates. "We did exactly what we needed to do," Terry said. "Not one player made one mistake in the two legs. The referee has made big errors and now we're out. It's a big game with big players and he simply wasn't good enough. The word conspiracy is maybe the wrong one," he added. "It's difficult when players are so high on emotion after a game. However, people are saying we shouldn't have reacted the way we did. But the fact is, six decisions went against us in front of 40,000 people. And for the ref to not give one of them is unusual. So it's not surprising for us to come off the field and show that emotion.”

apart from Drogba missing his big chance, or Essien's huge airshot when he could have cleared the ball 5 seconds before the equaliser, or....

Great captain Terry is. Last season we had the self-centred sobbing, now we get this. I also think he is somewhat over-rated but this is another arguement.

I think he is a good captain for Chelsea. It is just for England I hope for more. And good point from MoH about Ballack - I did always admire the bloke.

I dont know what the Premiership does to German players. Owen Hargreaves seemed to be the model professional 'til he came over here. Then it was all Wazza this, Giggsy that and parking tickets all round.

It's the money, that's all, I reckon: they earn so much more here than in the BL. And too much of it screws people up and makes them arrogant and lazy and think they can get away with anything. To realise that no-one you know need ever work again because of your riches can't but mess around with your head.

At least Ballack is a far better player for his country than for his club, unlike Mssrs Gerrard, Lampard etc. Can't quite work that out.

I'm not sure it's all that offensive - they're simply Catalan rather than Castillian. I think the the Basque country is far more independent minded than the Catalan region.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that was always my understanding.

I don't think they'd see it as offensive so much as simply slightly inaccurate, a bit like someone referring to Celtic as English, say - especially when it comes to Barca.

Because the club was and is a bastion of Catalanism esp. during the Franco era, when Catalan was banned from being printed etc - you could walk down the Rambla before 1975 and buy newspapers in every language other than the one people was speaking around you, for example ("speak Christian, you dog!" was one of the regime's less than lovely slogans aimed at enforcing it).

That "CATALONIA IS NOT SPAIN" banner in English that the Barca fans hung up during the game vs Real Madrid a few years back says a lot really.
