Brian Cobby who did the "5,4,3,2,1 Thunderbirds Are Go" voiceover passed away at the end of October aged 83. When he became the voice of the Speaking Clock in 1985 the press misreported that he was a supervisor at Withdean exchange whereas he was only a telephonist on the "substitution list". BT promoted him to supervisor 6 months after his 58th birthday which contravened the regulations on promotion within two years of retirement. Will he be a "name" on one of B&H Buses in the future ?

I'm sure I saw this on the Internet a few days ago...

Happy memories of watching Thunderbirds in B & W on Saturday morning in the sixties. O.K. you could just about see the strings but is was still pretty impressive to an 8 year old Potting. An iconic show.

I can't help having visions of all his many characters lined up at his funeral, doing that kind of nodding thing amongst the crowds.

Big contributor to kids TV for many years.

Fireball XL5 was one of the first things I remember; Stingray and Captain Scarlet had great impact at an early age. RIP.

This is definitely the Christmas of people dying who I thought were already dead.

This is definitely the Christmas of people dying who I thought were already dead.

And the Christmas for finding out that someone you thought was dead is still alive. Freddie "Parrot Face" Davies is still going strong.

I have 5 seconds of cine film clip of Xmas 1966 with me wearing a full International Rescue uniform [my Xmas pressie - aged 6½].
I was a huge fan and loved that program - Lady Penelope was my first crush and Brains was my idol.
