Don't want to go over the top with this one (like a Swindon penalty taker), but Gerrard is claiming that tonights winner was his greatest.

I tend to agree, it was a stunning goal.

The other half is a scouser so I tend to watch out for them. What with the other family connection of Mellor, I'll admit that I really enjoyed that tonight and got behind them.

Steven Gerrard - Fantastic player, David Beckham is not fit to lace his boots.

If Gerrard has any sense he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

It was an amazing goal and he was everywhere once again. But what was he on when he kicked that bloke early in the 2nd half? He was past a player on his way and he kicks a bloke. Could possibly have been sent off if the ref had over-reacted (as he was prone to do).

Gerrard - a legend and should surely be England captain by the world cup.

Prehaps thats why he kicked the bloke. He was thinking Beckham got sent off in an important game and ended up England captain. Might just work for me as well.

I think I enjoyed the commentary teams reaction to the strike.

"GET IN THERE!! YOU BEAUTY!!"

Always good to hear a commentator doing his nut.

I think he said it was probably the most important goal he has ever scored-and he wouldn't be wrong.

Reaching the next phase of Champions League could be worth as much as £30 Million:eek: to LFC. No wonder they all want to get there.

Shut up, technically last nights goal was much better. He was hitting a 'spinny' (As Andy Gray said) and he controled the height and hit it with incredible power.

I hope he does the decent thing and leaves Liverpool and the end of the season.

I agree. Liverpool is a sinking ship.

Unfortunately it all went wrong when they left the "boot room" manager progression.

Sadly Liverpool will never achieve the success they previously had.

Until the y stop FANNYING about and employ a decent manager. Houillier has ruined that club and I can't see Benitez repariing the damage done. The should have employed Strachan when they had the chance.

I do love Andy Gray's pearls of wisdom, when Monaco were 4-0 up against Deportivo: "Well I think that's the game won for Monaco". No shit Sherlock! :shootself

Don't be stupid, he was running in on goal and hit it on the volley with his favoured foot from ten yards out, its his trade mark !!

A manager who took a Spanish team other than Madrid or Barcelona to la Liga twice in three years and also won the UEFA cup and reached the quarter finals of the Champion's league with Valencia and he's not a decent manager

Sometimes you talk out of your arse Chappers

I think you'll find that most of the time I talk out my arse actually. Those credentials are pretty good i will admit but I don't think he'll make it in this country.

I'll reserve real judgement until he has built his own team though.
