Brain dead MUG SHEEP
If I was a supporter of one of the big four, I'd be pretty pissed off at star players playing an away international friendly just 3 days before the first game of the season.
Why ? Surely it'll help them towards getting "match fit" won't it ? After all, thats normally the excuse when a player STINKS the place out in the early part of the season for their club sides. Especially a new signing.
"He's just struggling for a bit of match fitness"
"He's still a bit rusty, just needs a few more games under his belt to get the sharpness back"
Here you are then. An extra game to get "match fit". 45-60 minutes or so in a friendly not very far away against classy opposition, a decent little warm-up for the season. As for potential injuries - well that can happen in ANY game during the season and is part and parcel of being a professional, whether at the club or on England duty. And it doesn't stop them turning out for their clubs against Shimano S-Pulse in the Bangkok leg of their asian tour, does it.
Not when there are SHIRTS to flog, or "brands" to sell. Oh no.
