Nothing to do with our club ? And I'd imagine putting yourself in hot water, insinuating the gate figures were fiddled

Didnt a director of Gillingham go to prison for fiddling the gate some few years ago. If my memory serves me right Brian Moore ex ITV commentator resigned as a director because he was ashamed of the fact that other directors knew about what was happening and did nothing about it.

It's sort of to do with the club though, especially after the situation regarding tickets all week.

I don't mind putting myself in hot water, because it's the truth.

Just wanted to ask if a club has to pay less towards stewarding/policing costs by under quoting the attendance at a game.

What do you expect the club to say? They can hardly outright say, yes that figure does look low.

I am sure there is a stewarding/police thing, but mainly, tax...

Was it about the away attendance?
You & your old man seem obsessed about how many we take away, I remember you doubting the official figures for the Wednesday game as well.
From where I was, the far left side of the terrace was pretty empty & there were a few seats vacant around us so 2500 is about right imo. & a pretty good effort. I see in the program, swindon took about 550.

I asked Paul what he thought the attendance was, doesn't mean that it's a technical quote from the club.

And thanks for the info regarding tax etc. Can't see why Peterborough would do it though, I thought they were pretty loaded.

The club would be stupid to say anything other than what Peterborough say.

I'm pretty sure they aren't loaded and it's not like Barry Fry has been involved with similar allegations in the past. Best to steer clear

It was removed because it is nothing to do with the Albion. If Peterboro are doing as you insinuate, take it up with HMRC. But I would be very careful about claiming what is 'the truth' as you have ZERO hard evidence to back it up.

The stewarding costs are determined by Posh, as they employ the stewards, once again it has nothing to do with the Albion.

The obsessive nature people have with attendances is bizarre.

The steward standing at the end of the 'landing' in the away sitting area told the chap behind me at half time that the away attendance was 3,400 and something. He seemed very specific but I suppose he would have invented it.

and besides......................

understating the away attendance does NOT mean understating the total attendance. Could very well be that sales on the gate were just all lumped in together so the only recorded away sales were those sold in advance. If so why not? Nothing untoward whatsoever

(a little in excess of 3K seems about right to me = about 800 walk ups on the day
)

Agreed:hammer:

Our ticket office said on Tuesday we sold 2500.

There were long ques in the shop all week

The phone lines are reporting people holding from position 12.

I witnessed many PATG on Saturday - this is in addition to the 2500 on Tuesday and all those telephone, shop and internet sales for the next 3 days.

Dodgey!

Too true we had loads of room over to the left hand side

I find it odd too, and it mostly relates to away crowds. I do wonder, with all respect to those on this thread questioning it as I don't know you from Adam, that it harks back to a bit of football thuggery, about how many we took to run "such and such"....whether the youngsters of today see it that way is debatable but they have certainly heard their parents talk of how many we took to ..... and it becomes ingrained.....

Who cares how many we had there yesterday?

We played them off the park and thrashed them 3 nothing, that's all I'm bothered about!

Russ , what you think is the truth can also be construed as libellous from a different viewpoint.
