This is nothing to do with generation snowflake or the dumbing down of anything. This is more to do with the fact that language isn't a fixed concept, it is fluid and is constantly changed by its users. Always has and always will do.
We constantly update or dictionaries to reflect this phenomenom.
It's too do with utter morons inability to find and use an already existing word to describe something. Instead of using the correct word for a situation they use a word incorrectly until a bigger bunch of morons adopt it into their language.
Racist as example used to be an incredibly powerful word. Now that it's being thrown around by previously mentioned morons as a catch all word to throw at anyone who shares a differing view on many topics (which have no relevance to a persons racial background). It's lost its meaning and power.
Fluidity seems to go hand in hand with stupidity.
