Hither (sometimes Thither)
All of a sudden this morning my little brother wants a ticket for the big match, my mother even joining in in adding pressure to me getting the job done. I log in to see there's about 75 left, or so it seemed at least. Luckily I bought the two for him and his girlfriend. I'll be watching it at home on da telly though, just a tiny bit envious of the noise of this sell-out crowd.

There have never been 30,000+ people in The Amex for a football match and the spiel to advertisers is as close to lying as it is possible to be if it is not actually lying.
Stop looking for excuses because you got it completely wrong. The club sold out at full price. Well done BHA and stop grizzling

Can't even log on to buy tickets at the moment. So maybe the Holy Grail of a sell out is a reality or will there suddenly be another tranche of tickets available.

30,000 against wolves , there were also lots of 30,000 plus gates at the goldstone , so why not at the Amex ?

I believe it is now a sell out

Less than twenty - just looked. Including small numbers in areas previously sold out (eg W1G), so presumably they're now releasing the last odds and sods held back for various reasons, in the light of an imminent complete sellout

I'm not grizzling. Like lots of other people I believe that modern day football is criminally expensive for fans and I don't think this additional game should have been used to squeeze the absolute maximum out of our pockets.

I also understand modern day realities and if 500+ seats at the extremities of WSL are filled by sponsors contacts and day-trippers on Sunday then that is the way of the world. But I don't have to like it or agree with it. (I am also adamant that many of those seats will be empty on Sunday - which they would not have been if sold to real Albion fans).

What on earth do you mean by 'day-trippers'? and surely you can see that the club has an interest in keeping it's major corporate supporters onside. Tony is already subsidising every seat in the ground for every home game... why shouldn't he at least try to maximise revenues?

So if the 2174 games played at the Goldstone is correct, that is 0.97% of matches had a gate of 30k or more….and not one post April 1979.

Memories are a funny thing.

It's dirt cheap, a day trip once, inc flights, cost me £650 to see England beat Germany for the first time in donkeys...happy days

"Day-tripper" is football parlance for an uncommitted fan who you are unlikely to see again anytime soon. If you looked a bit more carefully instead of jumping to conclusions you would notice I acknowledged the modern day realities of football finance.

In my extremely humble opinion, "Tony" and his minions would have been better off setting the price of tickets at a level where they were gleefully snapped up by Albion fans i.e. STHs and other people with purchase history at The Amex. The fact that so many have gone to sponsors, and so many more have gone to people without purchase history at The Amex, does not delight me. Sorry.

After nearly a day and a half at my desk without pressing work I now have some to do, so you will be spared further wisdom for a while.
