Nice bit of snow up our way yesterday.

Edit - having real trouble putting images on NSC now. I click the image icon, and insert an image as per instructions. But it doesn't appear in my post. Do I need to change some settings or something? Any advice welcomed.

I go via the "Go Advanced - Manage Attachments" route.

Tried a search of this thread without luck. Would appreciate some advice/opinion.

Have the job of sorting old family photos during lockdown ....... any recommendations of how to scan some onto a laptop?

- Has anyone used apps that are available on iphone eg photomyne?
- Currently don't have a printer so have also been looking on FB marketplace/gumtree etc for a scanner - again any recommendations as what to buy? A specific scanner only or will a general printer with flattop scanner be ok? Not looking to print any photos just store them digitally.

any help appreciated, cheers.

How many photos are you wishing to scan?

I've used Google Photoscan to blast through large piles - quality isn't guaranteed, but if there's enough light it works well, and auto saves to your account so very convenient to pile through.

Hard to say, certainly not all of them just the highlights. Haven;t gone through them. Probably up to 150.
I would have offered to do them if it was just a few. I need to find out if my printer / scanner can do more than one photo at a time. My old Cannon one did, but I don't know if my HP Envy 5030 does or not. I'll investigate, but can't do that until Wednesday.

hi, that's kind of you to offer but what with covid and me not yet sorting them it's not really practical. thanks though

That's a good point re Covid! If you've got them sorted, and we're able to go about our business a bit more normally at some point, let's speak again.

Another vote for Photoscan. Can be quick and pretty accurate once you get a feel for it. Not as good as a dedicated scanner, but very convenient.

What camera/lens do you have. I stopped scanning and started taking photos with DSLR/Macro/tripod. Hugely better quality and better post-photo processing options.

That sounds a really good idea. I hadn't thought of that. You need the gear to do so though.
