Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
That is a stunning photo Jack. Now i know, like art, photography is very personal, i thought the two upright pillars in the foreground spoil the whole thing. Just my humble and very uneducated opinion
I put them in on purpose to try and give a bit of drama and get people thinking, just as you have done. West Pier photos are two a penny, so you need to do something different.
Here's the pier without the pillars. What do you think?

Very difficult to capture yellow flowers, but that's brilliant. What lens and settings did you use?

Would you believe it actually was my iPhone 5s

I'm sure that's the culprit on that post!
Would you like me to straighten your photo for you? Otherwise, good shooting.

Thanks for the offer, I dusted off my hardly used copy of Photoshop Elements and did as you suggested to this and a couple of ones taken at the same time.

But now the post isn't vertical

Great photo.
Have you ever used the function High-dynamic-range on your camera??

It's just a 'point and shoot' Canon. The functions are almost non-existent. I normally take pictures and adjust the contrast etc in 'Photoscape'.

The real trick of good photography is to frame the photograph well, snap a good image, and crop it carefully. If you can't do that, the results will be disappointing - however much you've spent on the equipment.

A further tip .. if you want to persuade folk that you are a "good photographer", throw most of your photos away. Only a small percentage will be more than just a record of what happened. Not that there is anything wrong with recording what happened, of course.

Unless you want to become an immortal photographer like Vivian Maier, who it appears discarded nothing. One of lives truly sad stories.

Went down to the beach again this evening. Then basically I just went nuts with my eyes closed in the digital dark room!

Fascinating image Jack. Could you post the before darkroom shot - just so we can see the sort of processing you are doing? And perhaps explain the software and processes you have used? I would love to understand / experiment with this sort of thing.
