I genuinely don't understand what Mrs May has actually done to make people believe that she will deliver a decent deal. She hasn't had the decency to explain how she is going to deliver anything whatsoever, Brexit or otherwise, in this election.

No I'm working on the basis that Labour have come up with a fully costed manifesto, almost as if they have given governance some thought. The Tories on the other hand, have arrogantly assumed we'd all vote for them because anything else is a vote for that nasty Mr Corbyn. Put it the other way, the entire cabinet have been shown up to be utterly incompetent. They have absolutely no plan and don't even want to be held to account. I simply do not want that sort of arrogance and abject failure to plan on our side of the negotiating table.

Largely agree, and lest anyone forget a lot of the current cabinet were sat around the table when CallMeDave came up with the plan to buy off UKIPers with a vote, then went into a straight remain/leave vote with ABSOLUTELY NO PLAN FOR WHAT THEY'D DO IF THE ANSWER WAS LEAVE!!
That was a gross dereliction of duty from the governing party, who then turned around and elected a remainer as leader after the country effectively told them they wanted something different!. I am stunned that some on here are 'happy' to leave these clowns in charge of the negotiations to mitigate some of the damage that THEY may have done to all of our futures. I'm ok with people deciding that they're the best of a ropey bunch, but to a man/woman they have proven their utter incompetence in clear sight of everyone - what makes people believe they'll do any better behind closed doors in the negotiations with the EU?

Im going for a Labour victory resulting in a total capitulation to The EU an increase in terrorism and an economy resembling Venezuela. The magic money tree will be appointed Home Secretary, an imaginary inanimate woody plant with no communication skills will however be a vast improvement on a certain shadow minister.

It's a shame that the Lib Dems (who I generally support) didn't gain any momentum from disgruntled Remain voters and offering a decent manifesto that is sensible and not too far to the Right or Left, an alternative to the Tories continuing austerity and leading us to a UKIP fantasy Brexit and Labour promising what they will not be able to deliver.

I think that had the Clegg of 2010 been leading the Lib Dems today it would have been a different story. The choice of Farron was due in part to his Northern roots and perceived ability to take support from the Labour vacuum. That plan has backfired as Corbyn's manifesto and oratory has struck a cord up there. Clegg would have resonated with Remainers in the South and South-West - Farron will get a fraction of that.

The question is, have they done enough to attract enough support to win 20+ seats because if they have then it could get interesting.

If that happens, the Remainers will be proved right, as Brexit will be a ****ing disaster.

It will be whoever is in charge, it's all about damage limitation now. So, its all about "Iron Balls" May v "Listening and Talking" Corbyn. My prediction is a Tory majority ( Just ), no deal with Europe and 5 more years of continuing austerity, a stagnating economy, rising taxes and despair.

The Evening standard tonight is portraying Abbott's virtual sacking as a disaster for labour, which is bizarre. But they are also urging the electorate to vote Conservative (as if this were ever in doubt).

I predicted (on here) that Brexit would win and Trump would win (long before the votes). I am predicting a Conservative general election win, but with only a small increase in their majority. It will be portrayed in the Standard, Mail and Sun as a great victory for strength and stability.

Corbyn will very certainly not resign. Labour may claw back some inner city seats in some of the larger northern cities. But they will lose out in the 'need to win' swing seats, including several they presently hold.

The liberals may well not win back any of the west country easts they lost last time because these are Brexit favouring regions.

UKIP will win nothing. The SNP will win almost all the scottish seats (a massive victory) but may lose a couple in strong tory areas, and this will be portrayed in the media as a massive failure for the SNP (yes, I know.....).

After the election, May will sack Boris (how many times can he attempt to undermine her?).

There will be a challenge for the labour leadership, which Corbyn will fend off easily.

I have no idea how Brexit will pan out. May has seemed very confident in her position, and may be disappointed that she does not get the landslide she craves, but really all she wanted to do was take advantage of the polls and extend the Tory government's tenure. Why not, after all?

The Brexit outcome will depend ONLY on the extent to which the Europeans feel it necessary to punish us for undermining the project. It co We have few cards to play. It could prove awkward (with inflation and unemployment creeping up), and embarrassing (if May tries to play hardball over the residence status of current EU nationals - this card is still being held close to the May bosom). It was never worth it (the Brexit vote) but we will survive (grumpily, I expect)

And in the long run, we are all dead.

No significant difference, maybe ten extra Tory seats, with May's credibility shattered and Corbyn now unfortunately impossible to get rid of. It will all have been a colossal waste of time. The EU negotiators wouldn't have cared what sort of backing May had but now will see that she has called for a mandate and been denied it.

The Tories will now be in power until well after a disastrous Brexit and will get the blame for the economic shitstorm that will inevitably descend on the UK. And that's only fair because although the inflation, devaluation and unemployment won't be anything they can prevent, it will all be the result of Cameron calling the referendum in the first place in the hope of propping up his Premiership.

In the end most people will look at the Corbyn/McDonnell/Abbott combination and think no thank you very much.

The Tories have had a terrible campaign but will limp over the line with a majority of 30 or so.

Abbott's gone....

...... and I wonder if the front page of today's Daily Mail will have done the Tory Cause more harm than good.

I think the Tory campaign has been pathetic, May has been protected from anybody who might argue with her for the most past - she has been in the Labour seat in Southampton twice in this campaign, once to "campaign" in a very small very Tory part of the City, and today to have tea with some pensioners in a Bowls Club.

I think there will be a reduced Tory majority, and that mostly because of the fear factor of the alternative.

My daughter was told today by her father-in-law that she should read the Daily Mail because it is the only paper that tells the truth. This was after she had already seen something from me that said that the front page of the Daily Mail today was disgusting.

I am most certainly not a Corbyn fan, but personally I would rather have the leader of any of the other major parties as PM........ except Paul Nutter..... sorry Nuttall. I think May, presuming she wins, will screw Brexit up right royally.......... and I as a non-Tory was originally relieved when she came in as leader.

I'm going for a 65 seat majority to the Tories. There's always a big name that comes a cropper and I'm going for either Tim Farron or Nick Clegg. Also a very slight possibilty that Angus Robertson gets beaten in Scotland.

Heart says Labour by 50+ seats, head says tories with a slightly increased majority. May is replaced within 6 months for failing in her plan to deliberately blow the election, which would have left Labour to deal with, and get the blame for, the mess that is Brexit.
