NSC isn't representative of the general population, half of which have below average intelligence.

For the record I'm not saying all Leave voters are thick, just most of them.

A bit like most remoaners aren't arrogant, condescending and smug, just most of them perhaps? (I don't think that by the way!) NSC is representative of Brighton which has the only Green MP in the country I believe? Maybe just maybe NSC isn't representative of the general population for a different reason than lack of intelligence?

Seriously, can't people just have a different opinion these days? I try not to respond to these threads as they are pretty much an echo chamber of the same opinions but occasionally the attitude of some posters is just beyond belief!

We don't need to reverse Brexit (ie re-join the EU), we need to re-join the single market in some form.
So, pretty much back to what the Great British public voted for back in 1975. If the politicians hadn't taken it upon themselves to tinker with it and add all sorts of vanity projects without consulting the people, Remain would have won the 2016 referendum comfortably; in fact, there wouldn't have been any need for, or clamour for, a referendum at all.
Edit: Oh and if Starmer does end up with a massive majority he doesn't have to persuade anyone. He knows it is the right thing to do so he should just get on with it.
Persuade? No - but he'll need to convince the Red Wall (and mean it truthfully) that re-joining the single market isn't the thin end of the wedge.
Future governments of any colour wouldn't reverse it.
Not heard of the Lib Dems then? (although thankfully - hopefully - they're never going to get elected to govern!)

You misunderstand - if Starmer took us back into the single market no government would take us back out again, certainly not the Lib Dems!

I think it’s refreshing that some on NSC who voted to Remain still call Leave voters thick, uninformed, gullible blah blah even after all these years.

Should never have pulled out in the first place.

Conversely, maybe a few father's of certain individuals involved in our national act of self-destruction should have considered it...

I'm a massive Remainer but I agree with all of this.
I'd say the Brighton community has a huge 'smugness' issue

Margaret Thatcher wrote her Single Market paper in 1988, which was adopted by the EU in 1992.
We joined the EFTA equivalent in 1960, and the EEA in 1973. The referendum, as you rightly say was Remain in 75.

Yes, we were in the EFTA, and left it to join the common market in 1973, and.....? The idea behind the common market was 'pretty much' a single market, as I stated; the White Paper (written by Lord Cockfield, not Margaret Thatcher), in 1985 which lead to the Single Market was brought in to relaunch the common market, which was faltering a little. Not radically different to what Britain had voted for in 1975.

That’s not a direct quote, and is taken out of context. She is saying asylum seekers won’t be shoved into hotels and prison hulks but claims will be processed, with claims not granted, will be deported.
The X user themselves have a byline saying the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth is just 6 months.

If they have no passport to reveal the home nation?
I’m sure the Home Office and Border Force can work it out, and wealthy hotel owners/donors will not longer be pocketing vast sums of tax payers money.
