Yes, she's scared. You only have to look at her antics in Cornwall this morning with the press. As for calling the election now, early, when she repeatedly said she wouldn't, she's also scared - scared of what would have happened in 2020 after the Brexit chickens have fully come home to roost, just like she's scared of what would happen if she allowed Nicola Sturgeon to have another referendum. She is a hypocrite, a coward and every bit as pathetic and incompetent as all the others - and at least they're not relying on robotic soundbites from Sir Lynton Crosby to swerve every question going and in thrall to Paul Dacre.

IMO, re. the debates you are right in that she has nothing to gain, but that's because she can't gain by doing them, she and the tory party would suffer and she knows it.

Calling an election and then going into hiding, including not letting local press film answers you give to their questions (and banning the question of why they couldn't film these questions) are the actions of a person who is scared of looking weak, or instable if you will.

The TV debates have become a fixture in British elections since 2010, although not an obligatory requirement. Both sides in the Scottish referendum and Brexit referendum were prepared to do them and every political leader since 2010 has been prepared to do them. Apart from the one who tells us we need strong and stable leadership.

What we have is a contest between a Prime Minister who can't debate, egged on by a Foreign Secretary who hates foreigners, a Home Secretary who can't add up being egged on by a couple of communists and a Liberal homophobe. If Spitting Image had written this back in the day it would have been rejected as too far fetched.

She could potentially get extra votes from doing them; surely she wants as many votes as possible for an even more strong and stable government and mandate than current polls suggest?

Note that being scared isn't necessarily a bad thing IMO.

They all had something to gain if it went well, the Tories are in such a strong position May would be silly to risk it in a TV debate, you must see that, I would see it and accept if the advantage was with another party leader, I am really not sure if it would even make me mad.

You seem to be shooting from the hip at nearly anything and everything and becoming a little bit barmy, its not her fault there is no credible opposition or that we voted leave, take a look at your own mob their even more barmy than you and they keep giving every day, take Diane Abbott WTF.

The bit that is missing from this analysis is the potential for her to lose votes because she's refused to do the debates. Her refusal has given the other parties a hook to use to attack her character. From what the polls have been doing over the last week, it does appear that after their initial burst to historically high leads in the polls that lead has now dropped back. The debates issue will have played a part in that.

Fortunately for May, Corbyn has rather neatly taken the point off the hook by himself refusing to debate unless May is also taking part.
