I'm curious as to why the tory love it's like the 90s all over again. People starving to death on the streets services cut to the bone venial corruption everywhere.

I am surprised that nobody else has posted this one...

Latest YouGov #GE2015 poll:

CON - 34% (+3)
LAB - 33% (-2)
UKIP - 15% (-)
LDEM - 8% (+2)
GRN - 5% (-3)

This one is better

the UKPR polling average continues to show a one point Labour lead – CON 33%(+1), LAB 34%(+1), LDEM 7%(-1), UKIP 15%(nc), GRN 6%(nc).

What was he supposed to do? The tories were calling for more state intervention at the time and we will get our money back. Well unless gidiot sells for 10% of value

thats not likely when a full value sale gives a nice bonus for the budget.

At the end of the day the sensible among us know we are heading for a NOM, so lets debate the different coalition permutations, that's the reality people, get used to it!

Who cares?

I do for one. I'm starting to warm to Lord Ashcroft; although I can't quite work out if he's just mischievous or genuinely raving bonkers.

Ain't that the truth. Although the socialistas and capitalistas on here are clearly keeping their heads buried firmly in the sand.

He is trying to manipulate the results in individual constituencies through tactical voting.

Not Luton! Thank God

The only actual coalitions I can see are Tory/Labour and Labour/Lib Dem.

Some may consider though that the lib dems are going to get such a pasting at the polls that they'll won't be able to demand to be part of government.

We're probably more likely looking at minority governments, with various deals being done on a "confidence and supply basis"

I'd say the big question is whether the tories can do well enough to get to a position where a combination of themselves, Lib Dems and the DUP (apparently they could get 8 mps)

I personally can't see Dave doing a deal with farage, but maybe see his bluff and challenge him to vote against him and aee labour in power.

If the tories don't get across that line then Labour, with SNP giving them support would seem favourite.

Did you mean to say that, a tory / labour coalition?

Up and Coming Sunny Portslade
So, as discussed on other threads, this time round I am going to vote for the person I believe will be the best all round candidate for my seat. A good constituency MP in other words as many said Andrew Bowden was in Kemp Town or Caroline Lucas is in Pavillion. I am not in either of those but vote in Hove. So here are the mainstream candidates:

Graham Cox (Conservative) - @CoxGraham
Chris Hawtree (Green) – chrishawtree
Peter Kyle (Labour) – Peterkyle
Kevin Smith (UKIP)
Peter Lambell (Liberal Democrats) – PeterLambell

Apart from wondering why none of the Kippers seem to have twitter handles - but not for very long - the obvious start for me is that a couple of the candidates have had quite a lot of dealings with friends and family of mine. Peter Kyle pretty much helped get a crossing arranged over a very dangerous road next to my kids' schools when everyone else seemed to be fairly hopeless. I may be strictly ex-Labour in terms of party alignment but he was by far the most effective person involved. Less effective - in fact, IMO, a bit of a looney - is the Greens' Chris Hawtree. You may say "ah but you're always on here slagging off the Greens" to which I'd reply that their very ineffectiveness in what was an important issue to me helped form that view. I think* he's out.

Peter Kyle may be in. Of course he's only candidate two that I've researched. He's done a lot for Portslade because, I suspect (cynic that I am), that that's where he sees his votes. He looks quite good on the "NotAProfessionalPoliticianOmeter" as well. Grew up in West Sussex, moved to Brighton in '96 and the first of his family to go to Uni.

I'll pause it there because these are the only two I've looked in to thus far simply by dint of having dealt with them. I need to research the others a lot more. Regular updates here when I can be arsed.

*And no one ruled finally in or out till the day.
