Who they Westdene?
ps my internet has been out for a few days; I agreed with every word of our last exchange ... we're getting there

In this case 'they' was referring to Green party members that recently voted for their councillors not to set a budget that contained cuts or council tax increases. An impossibility if they are to carry out their legal obligations.

I wonder what fantastical figures Lord Ashcroft has dreamt up today?

Whatever...Ladbrokes have shortened the Tories AGAIN from 5/6 to 4/5 to win the most seats. With Labour holding just 10 of the 180 seats in the 'south' it's hard to comprehend how they ever get a sniff of running the show

Ashcroft National Poll, 23-25 January:
CON 32%
LAB 32%
LDEM 6%
UKIP 15%
GRN 9%

Can we have the original title back? It was much more funny.

"
Not long to go now people - 7 point lead for Labour"

A pint of what Lord Ashcroft has had please.

Why ? His poll is roughly the same as all the others now.

Here you go, here's the poll of polls based on the data from all these :

  • Ashcroft
  • ComRes
  • ICM
  • Ipsos-Mori
  • Opinium
  • Populus
  • Survation
  • TNS-BMRB
  • YouGov

Labour = 33%
Tory = 32%
UKIP = 14%
Lib Dems = 7%
Greens = 7%

Where, oh where, have six of those seven points gone ? It's remarkable that despite all the data matching Ashcroft's you somehow think he's making it up ??? I suspect you're going to be a very disappointed Herr come May.

If this is true for the Lib Dems, it is a most almighty fall. I still find it flabbergasting that anyone could vote for UKIP - which would be destructive for the UK, both culturally and economically. Hopefully their vote will evaporate as we get close to the only poll that matters.

Given your location I'm somewhat surprised by your UKIP comment. Also, hate to break it to you I think the UKIP vote will hold fairly firm - my vote certainly hasn't moved yet.

I'm in Dublin right now, but live in Switzerland. I think you're right about it holding firm. For me, i would be a disaster and it scares the living shit out of me. Not because UKIP will get power, but because of the impact that they have on the Tories, who have half a chance to get in.

A lot can still happen so I'm not sure the current polls have much value.

Plenty of time for more gaffs to occur, and skeletons to come leaping out of cupboards.

Billions wasted on a failed IT system for the NHS
Billions wasted creating regional fire control centres
Using private companies to help build hospitals under these PFI deals
Uncontrolled immigration from the EU
Uncontrolled immigration from outside the EU

The list goes on doesn't it. Glad these losers will not be getting my vote.

I just hope that enough people who are angry with the Tories for whatever reason pause when they are in the voting booth and ask themselves whether they really want Milliband, Balls, Cooper, Harman etc. + perhaps Nicola Sturgeon running this country.
