The thing with people with two homes, it's not overly common so they are unlikely to have a huge effect on any particular result ( and they pay council tax in both areas ). Students being able to vote where they are studying ( assuming it isn't their home town anyway ) can effect the results in areas where there is a mass concentration of them. Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Oxford are just some examples.

The local Green Party have admitted that they rely on the student vote ( and being a minority party who can blame them ) BUT given that students are often only 'passing through' and don't pay council tax it would seem a corruption of the democratic process for a single group of people can have such an effect on the result.

You could say the same about second-home owners: they don't pay the full rate of council tax either,

And as for people passing through: what about seasonal workers or any contract worker. It's not uncommon now for employees not to have a permanent contract only one or two-yearly ones (or even shorter). Should these be banned from voting as they're just "passing through"?

If you want to start laying down conditions on who can or can't vote in an area, we'll quickly start returning to pre-reform act days with only householders allowed to vote :)

Just why have Ladbrokes et al gone shorter again to 1/2 a Tory win?
With Two Kitchens Mr Beans' lot out to 13/8 I look forward to all you loony left putting your money where your mouth is? Money for old rope eh!? Go on I dare you

Ah yes the exceedingly wealthy milliband in his North London home with 2 kitchens. The champion of the working class. The hater of the rich and here he is being photographed in the modest of his 2 kitchens as if to say 'hey everybody I'm just like you'. He's not though is he . Just imagine the furore if Cameron had done this. They would have had a field day.

After two months of very little movement there is finally some sign of a shift. YouGov’s daily poll seems to have flipped over into showing a Tory lead – four of their five polls this week showed a Conservative lead. Populus is still showing a Labour lead, as did the monthly Ipsos MORI poll this week, but it’s the underlying trends that count and, for now at least, the UKPR polling average puts the Tories into a tiny lead – CON 33%(nc), LAB 32%(-2), LDEM 7%(nc), UKIP 15%(nc), GRN 6%(nc).

Neither poll shows any significant change from last time. The bigger picture appears to be that Labour and Conservative are still pretty much neck-and-neck. We’ve been seeing an increasing number of Tory leads over the last couple of weeks, but as with today’s polls there are still plenty of Labour leads too.

How convenient to discuss someones kitchen when you're selling off a MASSIVE chunk of the NHS

Nothing working class about him, an intellectual left winger with little real life work experience. Would be good in the communist party.

What a choice, Trust me Dave I'll reduce immigration, 2 kitchens, chancer Farage, Wiped out Clegg or Clueless Bennett. None have any experience and understanding of how most of us live our lives, and precious few ideas to improve it.

Not all voters in Brighton Pavilion will distinguish between local and national issues on May 9th , the council elections on the same day could be her downfall.

It's a valid point. Only nine of the Green councillors are standing for re-election - they're so ashamed of their performance that they haven't got the guts to defend it. I'm no Green supporter but I've always had a little bit of a soft spot for them (as people) as for all their simplistic, incomplete and muddle-headed views their hearts are in the right place. This is the first time I've looked on them with real contempt.

(Although again to give them the benefit of the doubt I'll be kind to them and say that they're giving up because they're intelligent enough to realise that their policies couldn't survive actual contact with reality).
