Without in any way wishing to put down anyone who has ever got a certificate in a food related Design / Technology / Economics subject, can I ask if it makes any difference to whether or not you can cook?

Or am I missing the point?

I never did HE, always thought it was a waste of time

I can cook, very well, iron, sew, fix things make things, etc, because my parents taught me, but that doesn't seem to count for much these days

My lil bro (Drumstick) did Food Technology, and he is a very good cook for a 16 year old.

He is going on to train in that field.

That was it, but after a year of re-takes etc I got an MSc in Computer Science, so even crap grades can be turned round.

How is there time in the school day these days to study for 11 or 12 GCSEs?

It's only 11 years since I did mine and the standard amount seemed to be about 9.

Is there no longer any time for stuff like PE?

My school only had time for 3 pe lessons a fortnight

Unless you took it as a GCSE.
