If you are going to use opinionated presenters you need them from all sides of the political persuasion.

For every Nick Ferrari there is a James O'Brien.

Interesting that Nick Ferrari and Piers Morgan have stayed well clear.

I think it will need to change or it will be gone in a year.

All I've seen is an interview with John Barnes which the presenters expect to go a different way than they thought after he makes corrections to their narrative. The audio was dreadful. One presenter compromises her narrative and the other is made to look a fool when he makes a statement which Barnes corrects with the facts (that being BLM is not the Q source of 'taking the knee').

It's basically Alan Partridge TV.

I haven't watched it, so can't really comment on the content. Not that I have any desire to. The funny thing is that detective novel writers write plots that, though they are obviously embellished to provide a good story, are based on things that can and do happen; I'm thinking here of the Roy Grace or John Rebus novels. And, however far-fetched they are, the scenarios played out in the Bodyguard or Spooks could potentially happen. As a former Civil Servant, I could see that the characters in Spooks are based on the sort of hierarchy I found at my department. However, GB News seems to be trying to be a news channel based on a comedy, whereas Steve Coogan got there first. As you say, very Partridge-like.

The more I'm looking into this channels agenda and more specifically the people behind it,the more I think this channel does not have the good intentions it claims.
It's quite literally "bad news"for Britain.
I just wish I could hear what they are saying.
I will try listening with headphones tomorrow in an attempt to improve the sound quality.

GB News seems to be trying to be a news channel based on a comedy.

I am genuinely concerned that it will become more extreme as it searches for a market that will make it financially viable .. there may well be a market for it.

I'm not sure there is an "agenda", just a perceived market which there undoubtedly is. The problem appears to be the execution.

It's actually quite difficult to hold an opinionated view and hold your own as an anchor on a live news or discussion programme. They've taken the presenters who are usually there to hold a right of centre point of view on a panel and placed them central stage. LBC works because for every Nick Ferrari there is a James O'Brien.

What I'm currently watching is a series of right of centre commentators arguing with themselves over issues of personal freedom. There used to be a really annoying programme on Sky News called "The Pledge", which was a version of their paper review programme on steroids.

As I've watched more (and I'm sure my opinion will develop) GB News is little more than "The Pledge" on a loop.

It wouldn't be allowed to under current broadcasting rules but more importantly advertisers will get scared.

If it is going to survive it will have to become like LBC.

I don't really think that is the point. You could use that analogy when going to football and walking out after conceding two goals.

This GBNews seems to be a comedy classic. Lip Sync Issues, bad lighting, Argos 1980s black-ash furniture, presenters talking/shouting over each other, banging on about "the flag", getting in has-beens on to be interviewed then the overly-shouty presenter talks more than the guest to ensure they sway to conversation... So yes, we can switch over, but let's gawp at the car-crash TV for a few more days.

Another American style import promoting right wing extremism dressed up as news, an echo chamber for the converted, like McDonalds obviously a market for a trash diet.
From what I’ve seen it’s car crash tv, but in today’s market that is viewed as a positive by many.
Surprised Andrew Neil is involved, thought he was better than that.

I watched it because it was new and I was curious to see what it was like, laughter came later, not going to be tuning in on a regular basis that’s for sure.

Rather amusingly on Twitter, someone decided to group together all of the Twitter tags of the advertisers so his right wing mates could support the brave, anti-woke companies supporting this brave venture. Kopparberg thanked him for bringing it to their attention and assured him it was transmitted against their wishes and wouldn't happen again. Judging by the replies, it looks like cider is not a complimentary drink for gammon.
