No, not at all, you know full well what I meant, that to back up your post you would tell me that these people were close friends of yours , and that you spent a great deal of time with them, giving you a close up view of how happy they were .

I would be prepared to tell you - for this sake of this discussion - that they are friends, and that their family dynamic is warm, tender, welcoming and loving, and the three boys and two mums are great.

Above and beyond that, I don't need to justify my friendships, nor the intimate family dynamic of my friends to anyone.

They also make many quotes from the old testament to support the anti gay stance. However where does that actually leave them when it comes to their hero jesus. The old testament bangs on about 'an eye for an eye' but jesus tells everyone to forgive and turn the other cheek. So many contradictions it must give the believers headaches.

I believe the bible also decrees that man shall not wear mixed fibres. Wouldn't mind betting some of these No-voting MPs had cotton underpants & woollen socks underneath their silk shirts & linen suits.

(Leviticus 19:19, Deuteronomy 22:11)

No you don't TLO.

But then why bring it up to reinforce your views if you don't want to be questioned on it?

Abort, retry, fail
I don't know TLO's domestic situation in any detail, but if he has a very long term partner, with whom he shares a life, and a mortgage and all the other stuff, but to whom he is not married, he might feel that the term 'girlfriend' seems a bit inadequate. I would.

Bird?

I was hoping the example I mentioned might be taken at face value.

With any discussion any of us have on here, I'd be prepared to be 'questioned' on it, though would draw the line at justifying a friendship, and at explaining it in any intimate detail.

I can't say I appreciate it being challenged on the grounds of truthfulness either.

Ok, you have to be joking. In what reality is being gay an option, let alone an easy one? They don't choose to like the same sex any more than heterosexuals choose and they certainly don't choose to be persecuted by religious zealots and bigoted cretins.
No joke, just experience. I rented my property to gay couples so got to have long chats, I even met my wife through a gay friend and a previous partner of mine worked in the field and on and on. So its upto you if you are a helper or care.

And IVF is available to gay couples. In what way is IVF not remotely similar to surrogacy? How is surrogacy not natural if you accept IVF is?
Am I missing something here ? Surely thats the whole issue under discussion, with IVF both of the couple can be parents, with a surrogacy for same sex parents this is not the case.

Which you would have mentioned straight away if this were true, it sounds like an advert for an epsisode of the waltons.

Surrogacy has many forms including carrying the sperm and egg of another couple. If IVF is natural, so is surrogacy. Both can involve lab based fertilisation of eggs, then implantation into wombs, sometimes a regiment of medication is required to assist (hormones, etc). To say they're not even remotely similar to completely misunderstand what either is.

Not all marriages produce children of both parents. Sometimes there's remarriage, sometimes there's the need for one parent surrogacy, sometimes it's infidelity. Are these all unnatural?

I'm not challenging anyone on anything to be honest, this whole debate is pointless, the ayes have as much chance of changing the no's minds as they have turning a Brighton fan into a Place fan.

We're beyond ayes and nos here.

What fredbinney can't cope with is the family dynamic I've outlined. He doesn't want to believe it's true, so to him, it's therefore not true.

Effectively, he's accusing me of lying. And being pretentious.

When a same sex couple can provide both sperm and egg you might be approacing the truth, as it is you're talking rubbish.

I would really love to know what evidence you have to back up the assertion you made. I suspect, in fact I know, that you actually haven't got a f***ing clue what you're talking about.
Sorry can't be here all day but glad you are willing to listen. I had a partner in the field for ten years, I had many gay friends through renting property and even was introduced to my wife by a dear friend who was gay. Plus much much more. With over thirty years of experience and long conversations with those friends, I have reached the conclusions offered on here. Most were crying out to sort out their orientation issues, caused by a multitude of reasons, from childhood experience to relationships. Sometimes they struggled with attitudes in society. Helping to bring peace of mind is so important. Yes you can shoot me down, ignore me or just be rude to me, but I will still help.
