During the pandemic the National Lottery Fund gave money to the National League to help make up for lost gate receipts at clubs such as Maidstone, Chippenham Town etc...except the National League didn't give the money out in that way, and came up with a distribution model which entirely coincidentally appeared to benefit some clubs who had members on the board of the National League.

The story was covered on a podcast I believe, and the National League were asked to come on the show and have a right of reply. They never replied.

Can see why PL clubs and others are uneasy at just giving money away to lower leagues with out any reassurances, seems like a boys club.

Enjoyable documentary. Thank you. Smaller clubs in the top division were the biggest beneficiaries. Perhaps this was an attempt to obscure the bigger clubs in that league receiving more than they would have under the gate receipts model ?

Just finished watching, very well put together and shone quite a light on the questionable dealings in lower league football, hallmarks of FIFA almost!

One point which wasn’t covered, I know Camelot said it was the NL to allocate the funds as they saw fit, however when concerns are raised surely the grantee is encouraged to get involved under their own governance controls if any criminality is suggested?

I would have thought they could have commissioned their own independent report similar to Bernsteins?
