I kind of veiled my initial response on here because he has almost certainly been sacked for asking for permission to be approached.

Monk is very overrated. A poor appointment by Gibson who should have known better.

If money is not a problem to Gibson and more a question of principal in speaking to them he would, The compensation would be less than he would spend on a slightly above average Championship player.

According to all national and their local media, he was sacked purely due to their poor run and is fuming about it. Swansea doesn’t get a mention.

Totally agree. Like Marco Silva the media seem to hold him in a very high regard despite a very average track record.

I don't know if Monk's any good as a manager or not, but he doesn't seem to have had an awful lot of luck so far.

I wonder if there is a story of some sort behind this sacking. Gibson is usually supportive, and a decent chairman - Middlesbrough's version of TB really.
