Gary Lineker is to step back from presenting Match of the Day until an agreement is reached on his social media use - BBC statement.
It follows an impartiality row over comments he made criticising the government's new asylum policy.
In a tweet, the presenter had compared the language used by the government to set out its plan to "that used by Germany in the 30s".

1000 replies. A thread that has moved at the kind of pace saved for the signing of Messi or Kanchelskis. Those 36 politicians and the rags have got exactly what they wanted. Never mind the proposals (or the actual issue of immigration OR the actual state of this country). Let's all fight over GL and the BBC.

Funny how almost all those breaking political bias rules all seem to be of the same political colour. I dont think they should self censor off air, let the cards fall as they will.
I am confused, confirm for me the people who have broken the rules?

Shirley, they will be too busy with that ongoing tax dispute with HMRC.
I suppose in your ****ed up world, lawyers deal with tax disputes and not accountants.

In the short-term, certainly.

However, once the Linekar asteroid that hit us with such dramatic effect has settled at the bottom of the ocean floor and gone away, I’d suggest that the incoming Tsunami about to hit these islands is going to be hugely destructive for the Tories; let’s see.

i think the issue here is why can the overpaid pricks in presenters , musicians , actors etc etc can have their say but 661/2 million normal hard working bods can’t ??? Democracy at its best ???
And yet there you are posting this complete gubbins on the internet in the middle of the night, thoroughly unfettered.

I'm not sure pointing a massive spotlight on use of language, to a whole new audience, is the best way to deflect away from said language.

As wrote earlier, this governments ability to turn any situation into one that makes them looks like Nazis is beginning to look a little less like coincidence. 🤣

Do your own research, thats how reason works in you debunk theories.

Here let me help, theres a few names here...

Do your own research is how reason works with conspiracy theorists. In my world people cite their sources and clearly explain their points to enable discussion and learning.

I had no intention of debunking anything I was just trying to clarify what your vague post was all about.

I think I have my answer though, cheers.

Would not potentially both get involved in a tax dispute depending on how complex, size of sums and parties involved?

Plenty of tax litigation lawyers out there having done a quick Google

:)

You see, you were not really confused. You were being your usual snide self. If you think I was going to source the BBC rules then cross check with every claim of bias over the last 10 years or so for you to post one of your usual dismissive responses you are sadly out of luck.

You got the low effort response you deserve.

It is nice that you have taken such and interest in my posting style.

I assume you are a recycled poster from another age as I don't recall many interactions with you?

I will remember not to except too much from you.

Damm my bad luck though. I feel like I am missing out on quite the stimulating discussion.

MOTD viewing figures up 500k compared to week before according to bbc …novelty value?

Don’t shoot the messenger
novelty or not, it's going to be used by those that would love to reduce cost of MotD. i have a feeling this is all going to end up badly for us as football fans, reduced coverage and then rights going to ITV.

i think we know you hold a grudge ....you continuously dodge the issue and put your own angle on stuff , i personally cant be arsed debating with you any more, even though we know we have a common past , i'm pretty sure if we ever had a few together we would end up having a great time or one of us would get sparked....you're just that type of guy....one thing is for sure , if people such as yourself think we can continue to take in 12 to15 k cashless immigrants a year , indefinitely , i'd be really interested to know what your vision is of the UK in 15 to 20 years from now.
ffs Sydney, do you ever bother checking what your posting about?? A grudge? Against who? Where did I post anything about immigrants? What are you talking about? Did you read my original post?

I would suggest that Lineker as a presenter is completely consistent with Andrew Neil who was a high profile political presenter for years and also did General Elections. It's almost exactly the same thing, except for Lineker is famous for sport whereas Neil is a biased figurehead in politics
As well a being a nasty, shouty, bullying, not letting an interviewee get a word in edgeways, c###!

The ones I speak to are desperate to work.Spoke to two Afghan asylum seekers on Friday - one is a lawyer, the other a teacher. Both have good English (one was near perfect).
My Daughter's partner is Albanian. He entered the country illegally and worked on the carwash circuit for a few years and for the past 5 years or so has had an NI number and has been working hard, nights/days in a job whilst undergoing the visa process. They have to pay somewhere around £2500 every couple of years to extend his visa for (don't quote me) 10 years to enable him to stay eventually. In this period he can't receive any Govt assistance of any type, has to keep his nose clean and work.
Genuine question, why can't the Lawyer and Doctor you mention do this? Any idea? Did they give any reason they couldn't get any work.

Slightly off topic.
My other daughter used to work assisting teenaged and young adult immigrants/refugees in a hostel and amongst being cared for, fed and watered, clothed and having a safe bed to sleep in they were each bought and given PlayStation consoles if they wanted and games and mobile phones and would kick off if they didn't get the latest kit. Just as our teenagers might do.
