Gary Lineker is to step back from presenting Match of the Day until an agreement is reached on his social media use - BBC statement.
It follows an impartiality row over comments he made criticising the government's new asylum policy.
In a tweet, the presenter had compared the language used by the government to set out its plan to "that used by Germany in the 30s".

Its not a rights issue as such.

Its the BBC performing its absolute bare minimum obligation under its existing contract with the Premier League to show the goals / highlights. So thats all they've done.

Had they simply not bothered with anything tonight, then they'd have been in breach. If this shitshow isn't sorted this week, then expect more of the same next Saturday.
Agreed regarding contractual obligation but my understanding is there was a rights issue regarding world feed commentary. Regardless, they may have opted to go with a shorter show anyway as producing anything better could have been very dangerous for the future.

Australia.

We did stop the boats about 10 years ago. We also still do out sources processing.

Brilliant political capital but unpopular with the UN..

We also had a spate of 'f*** off we're full' if you can believe that.
You have enough empty space in the outback for anyone who wants to set sail shirley?

We've got space everywhere.

We lack water but space we have loads of. 25 million people on a continent this size ,🤣

It doesn't bother me enough to get onvolved in pointless arguments, no. It does amuse me to come on here occasionally and read that in Lineker's defence he never mentioned the Nazis - just 'Germany in the 1930s'. Presumably just referencing the price of fish.........

There you go. Enough hackles risen for one evening, I thnk. :lolol:

P.S. The way MOTD was broadcast was one of the biggest flounces of the 21st, century - Sulks'R'Us!
Quite balanced and informative, surely? ???

No opening credit even, lol.
I heard this mentioned by Max and Charlie on Talkshite earlier and I thought they were joking. I quite liked the suggestion of bringing back 'Beautiful Day' from ITV's 'The Premiership' as a one-off in place of the opening theme tune :lolol:

You reckon the vikings were pillaging Britain in 1623?
split hairs if you like , my point is there were no i phones or twitter back then , and no opinionated , skewed journalism and news networks.....i suppose if i'd googled it i could have been more accurate but that would be boring....meh:shrug:

Why aren't you as outraged about the cost of fuel , gas and food ...... talk about diversionism/illusionism...crazy shit going on in Britain, and just a few years after the good old US of A has been paid back the final instalments of monies owing from WW2. Something big has to happen in Britain or you guys are all basically f***ed.Do you really think the current situation can be turned around ..??

At what level of earnings do you lose your right to criticise a government without losing your job?
It sits somewhere between having too much money to be allowed to suffer from mental health issues and being labelled a Champagne Socialist if you'd like to see a little help given to the poorest, most vulnerable members of society.

Apologies to Bozza if so but blimey Jason you like a sledgehammer don’t you. I’ve observed over time how strangely you can interpret fairly innocuous posts, very personally and sneery, a touch vindictive as others have pointed out in the past. Relax, chill out, and maybe drop the schoolmaster persona as it’s the weekend before resuming lessons on Monday. It’s like you’re always spoiling for a fight with certain posters, me included, because we once dared disagreed. You strike me as someone who holds onto grudges, forever. And what is it they say about those that preach tolerance being the least tolerant of all? You embody this on NSC, have done for some time in my view. Anyway, I’ve often taken long breaks from NSC and I’m about to again. Maybe you should, probably do your heart some good instead of racing up and down this website daily to squash any dissenting voices.

Well, you and GB can believe what you want and be outraged by. The time might be a clue as to why a quick copy and paste would do. From the only FREE National that we all read. Do me a favour. Hardly the stuff of Poirot to make the connection. I was more than expecting a person to. Anyway, he succinctly articulated my opinion too. Making same points etc. Btw I read JS Porter has said same as me in so many words. I need to sue… 😃
Oh I'm outraged now am I? :lolol: :lolol: TBH I initially thought you'd posted it forgetting to put a link or quotes, but your slight ridiculous responses to me pointing it out now make me think you were trying to pass it off as your own. Now call me a 'lefty lawyer' or something
