Lineker is poor, Shearer is appalling, Richards even worse.
The rest is football podcast, keeps popping up on my spotify playlist.
Absolutel trash. The 3 of them have already run out of "funny" anecdotes and banter.

Now that Ian Wright has jacked in MotD, I will be only watching on iPlayer and fast forwarding through the "analysis"
ITV have , for once, got the better line up.

Micah Richard’s is absolutely sodding awful… it actually hurts seeing him sat there alongside some superb ex players, both male and female … he wasn’t a great footballer… really bang average… as a pundit he’s like a thinks he’s funny overweight sixth form kid, with WAY too much confidence… he’s a total and utter dick head, and that’s being polite… that laugh would make me walk off set and never return.

If we’re wanting fairly average former footballers who are actually superb pundits then look no further than Nedum Onuoha - Insightful, informative, well read researched and often spot on… but no, we get Micah Richard’s, like a demented muppet long bereft of anyone actually pulling the strings, actually quite terrifying.
THIS!

Here’s a tip at half time switch channels or do something else for 15 minutes.
I was working last night and had the radio on, to hear Murphy already moaning about the automated offside saying it’s to precise, after listening to him bleat on about VAR all season and how it’s not been implemented correctly I was left wondering just how f***ing stupid is this guy😄

I agree about the rest is football podcast. Lineker who I like as a presenter is interminably boring when in the podcast format. His stories ramble on and on and even though they don't go anywhere it still takes forever to get there.

Richards gets a lot of stick but personally I don't mind him. Better than the eternal miserabilists of Murphy or the likes of Lawrenson in the past. Or the dulcet monotones of Owen, P Neville, Jenas et al.

I wonder if there's actually a pundit that everyone agrees on is good then. McCoist seems to be the most popular and even he's got some critics on here.

The stick to football podcast with Carragher, Neville, Keane and Wright (youtube i think) is significantly better than Lineker's vehicle.

I was surprised Wright wasn't added to the Rest is football instead of Richards, as he elevates shearer and Lineker to bearable levels, when he's with them.

The remote control volume button is a godsend. Including mid match if Matterface or the female cockney commentator are ruining the football.

Exactly, and thats the good stuff.

In club football I want more analytics and deeper discussions. Club football is for football people.

International football - not the same thing. Its either boring or entertaining. The English lads looking to create a viral video and the Swedish ones dissecting the birth conditions of Cristiano Ronaldo while fearing to have any even remotely controversial opinions both fall into my definition of "boring".

VdV, PvH etc at least express (seemingly) honest opinions. It’s certainly not my favorite gang of Dutch footy pundits but I take it (when I can't be arsed to turn the stream off..). Rafael van der Vaart after 5 beers is still less brain damaged than Roy Keane and Alan Shearer.

Would like to point out again this is exactly why Dutch commentary and punditry is absolutely awful. Found the screenshot in English because when I heard it in Dutch I laughed (but I think you have/had some family in Den Bosch) and in any case what an absolute joke it is.

Rafael van der Vaart not knowing anything about basic laws of nature is infinitely more funny and interesting than Alan Shearer pretending to know anything about modern football.

Stick to football is great, a really enjoyable listen. I think its comfortably the best of the ex pro podcasts. It's a really good mix of people with differing views and experiences and Ian Wright comes across as just a lovely bloke.

Surprised by how much I've enjoyed the Lineker, Shearer, Rooney and Fabrigas combo this evening.

So did I. Mainly because I was fantasising about it as a human caterpillar scenario
