1/ lambs ears, furry, doesn't like the winter wet
2/ I'd love to say australis, but sadly not
3/ That's why you use a pair of dress makers scissors in the garden, just for such clean ups
4/ I agree, I hate irises

Will lambs ears grow much and have flowers?

Are 1-4 all perennials? I know that in October I planted a pair of “biannuals” but I think they might be ones that I moved out...?

I'd plant up in between with the bedding. One thing to remember with a border that's viewable from all sides, plant tallest in the middle and smallest on the outside...that's mature height I'm talking about, besides that, it's filling out nicely

I’m hoping that I’ve got the heights right in the best places... some are only max 30-40cm tall and some say as much as 150cm which I’ve put in the middle....

If they're the ones I know of, they're just wild flower seeds squished in to a ball of soil which you can chuck around on to arable land. They will then fall apart on landing releasing the seeds. The seeds should germinate, grow, and ultimately attract bees when they flower.
Either that or they are a few notches down from H-Bombs?

4 A Weed
5 One of those things that generates loads of dead leaves but doesn't do much else.

If I'm right, but I stand to be corrected, and it is a Sisyrinchium, it will flower spring and summer.

Some months (year + ?) I professed a love of tropical gardens, and said that I was trying to create something here in Victoria (warm temperate with really hot bits). Anyway, I started from the first pic two years ago, spent a year landscaping by hand, and then spent another year choosing and finding and planting what I found.

It ain’t finished yet, the lawn is the next focus point, and the garden itself needs another eighteen months to grow into itself. Love to hear comments, good or bad, and any ideas to go further.

We also have a patio/deck area which needs revamping as my first ideas have not lasted the long term. Anyway.....

Plus some free Lupins

All arrived in the week and were bunged into the border, earlier in the week.
I wasn't entirely sure about the Lupins as they looked more like root vegetables than flowering perennials, anyway they're in the ground now so f**k'em.



Plugs of this lot arrived today.
I've just been through the online descriptions ranking them in height, colour and whether it's a daisy or not.
They'll be going in tomorrow, weather permitting with the requisite 'before' photo following soon after.

How do you get on rummaging around in the undergrowth, knowing the creepy crawlies you get. Plus, we need pictures of said creepy crawlies to put perspective on the reality of what we find here...you know, bumble bees and those yellow and black flying c u next tuesdays

Depends on where you are. British pscketed seeds give you the sowing times but tend to give an " average " time to start sowing particular seeds. Here in Worthing I have shown short rows of Radish, Lettuce, Turnip, Kohlrabi, Beetroot and Spring onions...
If you were in Cheshire I'd say leave it another 2-3 weeks til the ground warms up. In Worthing you can sow a week or two earlier than the suggested planting time due to our slightly warmer climate.
