Elated with this project of mine, 18 months ago it was largely dandelions and couch grass sitting on chalky subsoil.

Evolving all the time. The Heleniums were bought today.
That looks absolutely marvellous, its like the front page of a seed catalogue. You would pay to view that.

I've started dining out on the raspberries, and they is good.

Anyhoo, I have a cunning plan but don't know if it'll work.

I've taken down a wall, in readiness to extend the fence.
All is good.
I have 100 or so bricks as well as a garden sack of the shite mortar and rubble

Can I incorporate some of this small rubble in with the postcrete so as to bolster it up, pad it out?
Or will that ruin the strength of the crete?

I can't see what harm adding a bit of old rubbly stuff, providing it's not too big (conker size or smaller), would do, especially if it's just being used to hold a fence post in place. We've all done it!

Today we have mostly been:-

turning this

before 1.jpg

before 2.jpg

into

after 1.jpg

after 2.jpg

I know I should have waited until after we've completely finished (one panel ready to go, then final panel before part panel at the end) but to say I'm rather proud of our work today would be somewhat of an understatement.

potential Big News GQT fans.

If IF everything works out La Famille du Stat avec Chris are on the move.

Not news to you guys until I mention we're off to a place with possibly a large garden.
I say possibly because the house hasn't been lived in for over 2 years.

The garden looked like it was home to The Dayaks of Borneo.
I have no idea where the back border is.

Plus it's a bit of a curiosity as it's right angled.
The 'traditional' garden might be plenty big enough, but it then dog legs round for possibly another 30+ foot.

As said all being well around Christmas/New Year it'll become the Hanging Gardens of Statalyon.
So next spring 'we' will be starting a good 12 months of photos, clearing, photos, landscaping, photos, fencing and eventually planting, hard labour.

Good luck, you'll have so many options with a large gardening blank slate eg possibly putting in a large wildlife pond.

That happened to us 15 years ago, this home caught my eye more for the huge garden, which was largely a jungle. Some bits are still a work in progress, as I've insisted on doing everything entirely on my own including brick paver paths, removing colossal tree stumps, digging out dozens of 'generous' concrete footings to posts, all the hard landscaping. But I've liked it all really :)

Plenty of photos please Stat. I hope Chris settles in well.

Still a work in progress under the expert guidance (and hands on) from Jack Straw. Looking forward to seeing the results next year! Still a couple of areas slow to grow but I’m sure all will come good!

I'm hoping the middle two photos are how it's looking at the moment?!
The seed we had left over will be used to re-seed any remaining bare areas in the very near future.
I'll be in touch.

I've got crop circles on my lawn

Well mini ones anyway. They are about the size of a 10 piece and I don't believe they are fungal. They're in a shady area of the garden and It looks like something has been rooting for grubs, but there are dozens of them, maybe 6-10 per sq ft

holes2.jpgholes3.jpgholes4.jpg

Any ideas before Stat Brother says that I've let them go too far and the flamethrower and concrete solution is the only one left ???

Crying out for a dollop of concrete.
