[Help] Gardeners Question Time.

The garden is full,so with a few spare onion sets i have one bulb in one large pot (have around 20 pots) at the start of the lockdown i ordered bags of top soil and miracle grow and used a 50/50 mix in each pot all coming along well but now must the time for a top up feed programme of course i can use a general feed but i do have about half a bin bag full of 100% clean fine wood ash can i use that as a feed and if so how ? Make up a water mix if so ratio of ash to a watering can ? Put on dry sprinkle or plenty ? Any advice,thanks.

Wood ash lightly sprinkled then watered in is good for potassium and a few trace elements, it can assist with too acidic soil as well. Seeing as I'm on solid chalk, I have to use it sparingly

story to be a pain in the arris, but having now got about 1/2 bucket of charcoal ash, having just demolished a rather delicious beer can chicken.

Although I did have minor involvement with Jevs years' ago regarding his pride and joy, it has been Jevs' Rock Garden for many years. He is the Garden Manager and deserves any credit if any due!

used to love playing in there as a nipper when my Grandad and Grandma lived in Robertson Road. there used to be a little sort of lean to sweet shop just along the road, we got our goodies in there and went along to the rockery.

we believed the old thatched cottage was inhabited by a wicked witch and dared each other to run up and knock on the door.

no, we were very well behaved, always stuck to the paths, apart from trying to get under the little wooden footbridge that was right at the top.

Created a new bed this year and this plant has grown up. Left it because whilst it looked a bit like nettles, it defo isn't. Perennial, spines, serated leaves. Could it be an old gooseberry regrowing from the base

Looks like Gooseberry to me. Together with Rhubarb, it's the only fruit or veg I grow. Who can resist a bit of tart

I agree with goosegogs bush. I had to cut one of mine to the ground last year, it was the only way I've found to break the cycle of an annual saw fly problem
