The club doesn't need to be beaten with a big stick but they could do with a small poking. If I'd lost two people from the same key position within a year for the same reason in my organisation I'd be in front of my board this morning having to explain it. Of course no one knows for certain that it WAS the same reason.

What confuses me is why so many are moaning about the season we've just had, the playoffs is a realistic target, we made that target. Anything else is a lottery/bonus.

I agree with that. I think my issue with us selling so many tickets, kits, pies, etc is that before we had the Amex I think I thought we'd be secure if it was going this well. It worries me a little that with all the money coming in we still make a substantial loss in putting out a decent team.

Not crap, but definitely boring. But with the new info leaking out, maybe it was the only way he could envisage challenging at the top. Anyhow, I wish him well for the future.

Total fruitcake who trusted another fruitcake (Eileen?) to do his team talks, and said that the disabled were to blame for their own disabilities! He has taken a long time to try to reinvent himself but he can fxxk right off.

OG wasn't provided with the funds he needed to compete, yet TB went public to say our budget was slightly increased (misleading even if true) and that he expected a top 6 finish. That's shoddy on TB's part as far as I see it,

Just out of interest what is misleading about the clubs claim that Oscar had a slightly increased budget over the one Gus had ? ( and I don't necessarily accept that the club were telling the truth anyway ).

Ok, but this article does say that he gave Burke a list of players that he wanted, and left it to him to get players in. I can understand missing out on a few but to miss out on them all does seem way out of kilter.

I certainly think this season was a success and do not understand much of the moaning either. It also took ages for Swansea to get up too. I think many are blinded by money - if QPR lose the final, which i really hope they do, no relegated team from last year will go straight back up. That speaks volumes to me. And Wolves getting relegated last season. Parachute payments, cheating FFP etc is not the be all and end all - it is how you use what you have that counts (ooeer). People need to be patient - we will get there eventually (assuming we can keep hold of a manager for longer than a season!)

Two ambitious and highly rated young managers have now left the club over lack of automony in their transfer dealings. That surely says all we need to know.

Managers will always try to get higher budgets and therefore it is down to the club to manage this properly. Whichever way you look at this we have failed twice to do that.

Whether that is because they set expectations too highly when recruiting the role, did they suggest the budget would be higher? Who knows,but something is clearly wrong. You shouldn't be losing managers this quickly for these reasons. At least we got two seasons out of Gus I suppose!

A player such as PIG costs £600,000 a season.

Another way of looking at that is that a West Stand Upper ST costs £550, if we net off the VAT from that the club receives £458.

We therefore have to sell 1,310 adult season tickets to pay for ONE (albeit one of the higher paid) player.

It's clever wording. Let's imagine the budget was £50pa. Gus had all £50 to spend. He spent it all. TB then increased the budget to £52.50, however £50 of the budget is already being taken up with Poyet signings. Therefore the budget has increased, but the amount available to spend has significantly reduced from £50 to £2.50.

One thing I'm not clear about. If we sacked OG, we'd have to pay compensation as we broke the terms of his contract but I've not seen anything to suggest that he has to pay us, as he broke the terms of the contract. Is the contract only one way?

I think he 'offered' his resignation and we accepted it which I suppose is an agreement of sorts hence no compensation. I've never heard of a manager having to pay compensation though for breaching his contract so you have a good point, although most managers are sacked anyway if they breach their contract. (Poyet)

What happens next LL is dropped and we are losing at Forest when OG brings him on and we end up winning
LL again doesn't start against Derby at home and we are losing & draw when he is on pitch

The truth of it is there will also be sycophants that'll defend the club no matter how they've acted. There is also a number who'll always criticize the club no matter how they've acted. Then there's the lot in the middle who try and be reasonable to both sides.

We seem to be moving into a Moneyball era whereby we buy players that are good value for what they offer. I imagine that if researched properly there are some very good players out there that are still under the radar for one reason or other.

Naylor then mentions that Daily Telegraph article that originally quoted Garcia as saying the budget went down. Bloom around the same time in an interview on the official site stated that the budget had been slightly increased. The Telegraph article was subsequently changed. Naylor suggests Garcia felt the club's hierarchy needed to be more transparent about the financial conditions he was working under and reflect that accordingly with levels of expectation for the team.

One more point: once the legal process with Poyet had played out, Oscar had the choice of job titles - manager or head coach. He chose head coach.
