The PS3 is a better machine, pure and simple. It is more powerful and more capable. But it's also more expensive.

HOWEVER you will never have to pay to play online with your PS3.

I've owned both so I base my opinion on actual everyday usage. The PS3 is just a better all round entertainment system. PLUS you can't get Uncharted, now a trilogy, on the Xbox and they are AWESOME games

I would find out which 1 your mates use in terms of playing online with them or borrowing/swapping games.

To be honest as a pure gaming system they are pretty much identical......
Only massive diff is the controllers (I find the 360 is better for 1st person games & driving the PS3 is better for sports games.)
Exclusives basically go along the lines of Xbox has Forza and PS3 has Uncharted (The other exclusives I dont think are as good as these 2)

Either way you're gonna be chuffed, so might as well just buy both :)

I have got both and like both . A lot of the points have been covered but one thing I will say is that I always feel my xbox isn't far away from breaking down .

That is something I felt so I got a PS3 six months later and a dusty 360 I sold the 360 as it was now nothing more than a glorified giant cd case.

Bought my PS3 three years ago and although PSN is free the bundle didn't include a headset, whereas these are included with Xbox.
Not sure if they are now included but seemed petty not to include them in a bundle.

I kinda get that feeling too. Microsoft don't seemed to have ironed out minor niggles with the hardware, such as erratic disc drive operation and controllers that just switch themselves off for no reason, to name two. Otherwise a very good product for gaming. XBL is worth the extra dough for a reliable service.
