The whole booking the keeper thing is pointless. They will never give them 2 x yellows for time wasting.

The "dark arts" are part of the game and sadly to compete we need to be better at it.

It’s a token thing late in games. Dishing it out very early on when the GK time wasting begins, might put doubts in their mind.

What's the difference between game management and blatant cheating? I'm struggling to differentiate between the two.
We're quite nice and probably far too honest.

Win at any cost, including constant play acting is why your Romas and Aston Villas do so well.

I am not sure. I don't think any ref would be brave enough to book a keeper twice for time wasting to send him off.

At times, wouldn’t you just like to be a ref (with their knowledge and fitness in the moment) for a PL game. A Villa game where you’d police things correctly …. if clearly no head or serious injury play on, any simulation = a yellow from the first seconds, free-kicks and throws from the correct place, every bit of cheated time added on, all time wasting an immediate yellow, an attempt to crowd around bullying yellows, goal keepers timed.

Compared to what I was expecting I thought they weren't too bad (I was expecting a lot worse and have seen a lot worse) and the ref was pretty decent.

You'd like to think Roma would have been disappointed with that effort. Tho they'd have been far more disappointed if they'd failed to protect (most of) a four goal lead by whatever means possible

Don't understand why Roma needed to resort to fake injuries, time wasting and play acting, given the quality of their side they could have played the game on the front foot and still gone through.

They should have realised very early we weren't scoring 4 goals and got off the pitch without the 10 added time.

Tonight we saw that the premier league added time rule is far more effective than booking players inconsistently for time wasting.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
All a tad embarrassing, to be sprawled and slain on the floor for so long, but for times in the first half we felled ourselves at the meagrest to gain advantage and opportunity near the box.

We were convinced a different ref came out for the second half such was the change of attitude.

I said exactly the same to @edna krabappel. I thought they'd be really at it as soon as the game started, but they weren't.

Going out on a limb here but….. new manager bounce and it will wear off. Roma aren’t getting close to winning the EL this season IMO. Unbelievable luck to draw them in the R16 when they have this temp upturn and our 3 most dangerous attacking players are injured.

They're an Italian team FFS what do you expect. They're are the same if they're chasing a game it's in their DNA. They cheat but what they don't realise the World has moved on.
