have you deliberately called him cat stevens to strengthen your case ? he has changed his name to yusuf islam and terrorist or not , he supported the fatwa againt salman rushdie, stating publicly '' He must be killed. The Qur'an makes it clear – if someone defames the prophet, then he must die.'', pretty strong grounds for denying someone entry , dont you think ?

I was going to write "2004 "Man of Peace" winner and writer of I Love My Dog" Cat Stevens but felt this was a bit wordy.

It would also overlook him calling for the murder of salman Rushdie, and give a misleading picture of perhaps why he was refused entry to the U.S., fyg previous winners of this award include such luminaries as the Italian national singers football team, Peter Gabriel, don cheadle, Roberts Baggio , and Sean penn .

Thank god for that. We can all sleep easy tonight now.

(I admit I hadn't heard of this fella until about 5 hours ago)

You mean you didn't steal one of his ceramic sunflower seeds from the short time that you were allowed to walk on his installation at the Tate Modern? Tsk tsk.

Have I read it wrong does it not say he had a penalty imposed for tax evasion.
I don't think he'd been charged with/been convicted of a crime. He was held in prison without charge, and also fined, which may have been due to his opposition to the government.

I find myself overwhelmingly indifferent.

This!
Ive checked thoroughly and I'm pretty sure I really couldn't give a flying fvck!
Just another non story from the anti government paper.
And let's have it right, are we treating him otherwise in accordance with the rules of entry to this country????
No......what ever the issues with his convictions may be, they're still convictions aren't they. And failing to disclose them is a completely different matter to not agreeing with them!!!!
