I wus ther!

Behind the goal, somwhere in that blur.

Kind friend who had been to an unpopular pre-Christmas league game had kept the programme which turned into vouchers for the semi-final!

But couldn't get to either final. Still got the home video tapes, bit blurred, but working.

I was behind the goal very near where the entrance came up in the centre. Probably the most packed I've ever felt during that 1st half, i think some moved towards the corners at half time.

Wasn't the crowd about 50k? To think Highbury could only take 30k when it closed. Ah, the good old days before safety!

I was there too. What an absolutely brilliant day. We walked back God knows how far - did the police stop us getting on the trains at Arsenal or have I got it mixed up with another game ? Couldn't speak for 3 days I was so hoarse from shouting ! I was right up the back and I'll always remember the bloke in the tea bar saying when i offered him a £10 note for a couple of cups of coffee that he thought we got paid too much "dahn Sarf" as he'd never seen so many notes. Quite ironic really now when you consider that David Dein'd proud boast was that no seat at the Emirates would be less than £30 !!
Happy happy days - I'm filling up now !!

Quite possibly the best day of my life (no kids, so I can get away with saying it!).

Only a kid and the first time I went to a game without a box to stand on. We were packed in so tight I could hardly lift my arms, and could only really see the top corner of the Clock End goal... luckily, just the bit that Jimmy Case smashed the ball into. Largely for that reason he is, and always will be, my all-time favourite Albion player.

I remember my ears ringing from the noise, and every time I shut my eyes on the way home could still hear the singing. When we got to Brighton Station it started all over again, and my family told me people were running out into the streets when the result came through - hanging out of cars with flags and all that stuff.

What a shame that so few fans outside of the Big Four will even experience that again. Those of us who were lucky enough to see it experienced something that really can't happen again.

The "bloody rubbish referee" reaction to the Wednesday free kick, was from a bloke from Burwash standing next to us.. almost 100% sure.

Me and my mates were there - having travelled up on a Coach organised by the Red Lion in Turners Hill (thanks Pete) :drink:

I stood on the side behind the Band, directly opposite the spot from where Jimmy Case hit his free kick

A wonderful day.

Was 16 at the time and three of us went to Highbury that day and stood behind the goal in the old clock end.

Happy, great days !

I was there I was only 7 and remember getting split up from my dad briefly and some random fella hoisted me up on to his shoulders so I could see the game, just as Robninson scored. A genuine act of kindness that will always stick in my mind

Probably the greatest day I ever watched BHAFC.

Was in the clock end and it was a fantastic day.

Somehow it wasn't as good as the game at Liverpool, but I was right in line when Jimmy Case scored - one of my favourite JC goals (not as good as the third one in his hat-trick in a 7-0 game - Chester??).

At the time it looked like Mike Robinson was going to miss - but he didnt - did he!

Thanks for that Northstander. Marvelous scenes and memories.

The match footage though only brief showed the brilliant pairing of Smudger and Robbo. It worked in the final too and almost brought the FA Cup to Brighton.

I have never been so nervous before or during an Albion game. Everything, even travelling to Highbury, seemed to be in a dream world right up to the final whistle. Those two goals of ours and two world class saves from Mose are all I remember from the match.

Highbury had already been a good place for me. I was there when we beat Rotherham 6-0 in an FA Cup replayed replay some years earlier. It was a time when mass singing from the fans was not the norm, but after we went four up Sussex by the Sea rang all around the stadium.

There's an Argus pic, featured in one of it's books, which shows fans, including me, outside the Railway Bell celebrating that evening....although the caption has it as the Final.

be gratefull if somebody could get that picture on here. Great memories....of when i was slim!
