Apparently to appear (or has appeared) in Barcelona daily 'Sport' newspaper

Source: Friend in Andorra

Translated-

'Oscar Garcia, coaching head at English club, Brighton will seek to muster strength to his connections for Catalonia to encourage his new project towards the summit.

In a number of days he will meet Eusebio Sacristán at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamperto to discuss available selection for loan or transfers at the Barcelona B.

Brighton are with a transfer budget of £5m euros and must sell to buy subsequent. But Garcia will look to buy left back Carles Planas in a bold and probable plan to give the English football he desires.

Plans to ask for loaning Gerard Deulofeu show unlikely as reported by English press but Planas to sign is expected'

Interesting, even more so as I thought under the new "system" that Garcia wasn't involved in recruitment

I think people are taking that too literally of course he can advise who to buy but once he's done that it would typically be hands off with Burke doing the negotiations. As this is a Barca player I expect Oscar would be more involved than normal though.

That is never seriously going to be the case is it? TB would have to be completely bonkers to bring someone like Oscar with all his contacts and player knowledge and say he cant be involved in transfers in preference to David Burke.

So to believe that report, the Head Coach of Brighton is going to speak to officials at Barcelona about which of their players we might be able to have?

Bloody hell...

Does Burke speak Catalan? I loved in Barcelona and they are a country within Spain. Anyway Oz has been brought in as much for his connections as for his coaching. I suspect TB has brought Oz in very much for his Barca connections so it makes sense we will see 1 or maybe 2 Barca players before the end of July.

It appears he's doing more than that. I doubt Poyet ever got involved in too much negotiating but would likely have the final say on how his budget was spent, same as Garcia I reckon. The more I think the more I see little if any difference to previously

What gave you that impression?

The new title reinforces the point that he is concerned about training, tactics, and generally getting the best out of his players and not getting involved in recruitment (other than telling Burke what he wanted and probably some suggested names). At least that's what I thought then

But those who are involved in recruitment will consult with the head Coach to make sure they are tracking people he is interested in. And at the same time, if Senor Garcia has connections which could be useful to those involved in recruiting, they should use them. It might be evidence of teamwork!

Hang on...that seems to be suggesting he's LEAVING ENGLAND at some point soon - cant believe it, no loyalty, Oscar out!!!!

Sorry just trying to imagine if it was the same story but with Gus's name instead.

FFS, we've already had to wait five weeks to get him in, and now he's swanning off around the world instead of focusing on our players. Where's his dedication? He wasn't in a job before he signed with us, so he can't need a holiday all ready. This is really terrible.

Also, I'm amused the translation refers to him as "coaching head".

I'm surprised that no one has commented on this quote "Brighton are with a transfer budget of £5m euros and must sell to buy subsequen".

Am I reading it wrong, or is that suggesting we need to sell some of our players before we can buy?

I think it might be having to sell to buy after the €5m has been spent. I don't think that is vastly different to what we spent last season.
