I know most refs tend to be incompetent in this day and age, but Marriner after Dean? You just couldn't make it up.

Mark Clattenburg would've been a sensible choice for such a big game. Renowned as probably the best referee although I'm not sure where he lives.

I just hope Marriner's not all at sea as usual (sorry).

He has refereed three of our games:

Liverpool 6 Brighton 1
Millwall 1 Brighton 2
Hull 2 Brighton 1

Not many cards in any of those games. Millwall's Wright sent off for two yellows in that game. Could be worse?

We don't have much history with Marriner. He last reffed us at Hull in the Cup in Feb '14. We lost 2-1. One yellow for each side.

Before that:

22/9/12 at Millwall. We won 2-1. No yellows for us, one for them.
19/1/12 at Liverpool in the Cup. Lost 6-1. One yellow for us (Navarro), none for them.
26/2/05 home to Millwall. Won 1-0. One yellow for us (McCammon), three yellows and a red for them.

Oh great. Not like he has a history of getting important decisions completely wrong (just ask Kieran Gibbs) ???

Where are you getting those stats from? I have the 2012 Millwall game with a red too?

The Massive club, have had Marriner for four games (that I can find):

Massive 0 Leicester 2
Massive 2 Bristol City 3
Massive 1 Barnsley 0 (Three sendings off, one for Wednesday two for Barnsley)
Fulham 4 Massive 0

So I doubt they are over joyed either.
