Help required - does anyone know if a freeview box can be plugged into a sky dish - getting sky freeview, but for some unknown reason they do not give you sky sports news.... we do not have a standard aerial at present, so this is not an option,,,
Any help appreciated :dunce:

SSN is available on a Freeview box but you need to connect it to an aerial , preferably an outdoor one as the multiplex that SSN is on has quite a weak signal strength and might not be picked up on an indoor aerial. Sky Sports News is not free to air via satellite either through a Sky box or Freesat receiver.

Freeview uses an aerial. It will not work with a satellite dish.

You need a FREESAT box, pretty much same principle as a freeview box but they use an existing Sky dish, check out Maplins in town for some good boxes at decent prices ..

No, and I have no idea why Sky Sports News is unavailable on either of the freesat Systems.

Sky Sports News is subscription only on satellite so not receivable at all on a Humax freesat box. It is only free at present on terrestrial TV - Freeview - although that may disappear if Sky bring out their pay package (Picnic) on terrestrial which now seems likely.

So the crux of it all then is - SSN = freeview = aerial ?
No aerial = no SSN :nono:

Anyone know a good aerial installer & not too much money ?

Yep, just wondering about the politics of it. I suspect they see Freeview as Sky advertising space.

They have done the same with Sky 3 , just a way of promoting themselves on a different platform.
