Thanks very much to all! PC Not liking it all being installed/uninstalled at once, but it's gonna have to deal :lolol:

Been using AVG Free for about 6 months now since my Trend subscription ran out, no idea why anyone would want to pay for AV software anymore.

Have also moved my domains over to Windows Live Mail and get mail hosting with awesome anti-spam. Also all for free. :clap2:

Is AVG free forever or do you have only a certain amount of free time before you start paying?

My Norton subs are up in 20 days so interested in changing

They have 2 versions: 'Free' and 'Pro'. No limit on the free version...

The most curious thing..
AVG has 2 versions - basic free and pay for. Also spybot, adaware, spywareblaster, windows defender, zone alarm, spyware doctor etc etc all have basic free versions that you can upgrade to paid for if you want

Also look at http://www.majorgeeks.com/ for other stuff

avg works well with avast which is also free and should get the trojans.

as to firewall - use kerio which costs about £10 but is shit hot. read some mixed things about zone alarm and personally didn't like it when i had it.

AVG free can't always get rid of virus's but it does detect most. if there is something it can't get rid of you can always find a "stinger"

Windows defender is good enough as a anti spyware. Also windows firewall is as good as any

AntiVir is totally free and does a good job for me. Zone alarm everytime for firewall. Also Windows Defender (Beta) is actually a good free product from Microsoft
