Can't see how RATM cashed in when they didn't even know anything about it initially. The whole thing was masterminded by a British couple on Facebook to f*** up X Factor's domination of the Xmas No 1 spot and prove a point. Which they did. Beautifully.

It wasn't a scam organised by RATM but they certainly cashed in on it. They said they'd make a donation to a UK youth charity but certainly not the entire proceeds!

Some of it went to charity, not all of it. Not sure how that would work anyway as money made would go through their record label (Sony, I believe). And they will have made BUCKETLOADS of extra money not related to the single itself.

Maybe it wasn't their idea but they certainly jumped on it - fair play to them but I wish they'd drop this "warriors of the people vs Simon Cowell".
