Better than Dean Wilkins? I remember when he placed the ball, it was as good as giving us the goal.

Seriously, are you winding us up?

My memories of the Wilkins years are of a man who built an entire reputation as a free kick specialist out of one effort (Ipswich, to get us into the play offs in the last game of the season).

Time after time, I remember us being awarded free kicks just outside the box, only for our hearts to sink all across the East Terrace as Wendy stepped up, unfailingly wafting a tame effort either into the South/North Stand, or gently floating one into the grateful keeper's arms.

Yet people still seem to think he was some kind of Beckham/Roberto Carlos? Only Kim Jong Il, of living men, is surrounded by such myths. I'd be interested to find the stats relating to this- can anybody tell me exactly how many free kicks Wendy scored for the Albion?

I remember a good one against Port Vale when they went up.It made them sweat for a bit.I think Beckham's the one who is living on the one effort.

Worthing
Currie for free kicks (although Chippy had his moments) and Watson for corners.
