I'm sure I'll be labelled as some awful ingrate but I do sometimes wish these gestures weren't *mostly* done for midweek games up north. I think in many cases attendance at a game like tonight, which had to be arranged last minute, is more down to a flexible job/family situation rather than an inherent dedication to following the team. I think you'd catch more of the people that deserve (not that anyone has some god given right to a drink from the chairman) a free pint by choosing one of the least glamorous weekend fixtures - something like Newcastle or Burnley away (neither of which I attended before anyone thinks this is about me).

Don't get me wrong - still a lovely touch.
